Out of nowhere, my 3 year old daughter complained that her front tooth or the gum above hurt last night. I know she wasn't pretending because since then, she had chosen to use her side teeth to bite.
I am so torn with this so called "treatment" and I hope it is not a torture for nothing.

I actually had mouth pain when I was taking a break from antibiotics. My whole face hurt including the inside of my mouth, my gums and my teeth. At one point I thought I had absessed teeth, but the pain finally subsided.
I think this might have something to do with the cranial nerves be irritated or inflammed. But I am not a doctor, so it is just my best guess after doing some light research.
I hate to hear of a small child suffering with such miseries. I wish you guys the best!

She might have started grinding her teeth at night. That can cause pain.
Also check the tooth and see what color it is. If it is dark, she could have injured it and it is dead. Dead teeth abscess. Some times there will be a little bump on the gum and that can be an abscess.
Be sure to keep it clean--brush and floss.

Thanks.
Her tooth looks fine - regualr color and firmly planted. Her gum does not look to me swellen or discolored either.
I did call her dentist but they won't be able to look at it until next Monday. I hope this is not going to be a dragging weekend for her.
And I hate the thought of cranial nerves - isn't that the cause for Bell's palsy?

My daughter is in constant pain from her jaw and teeth--some days are worse than others--but it is pretty constant.
Dentist keeps assuring us that nothing is wrong, so we are assuming it is the Lyme and Co that are causing the majority of pain.
She does also have some teeth that are still coming in, i.e., 12-year-old molars and some incisors. Is your child teething?
All this together causes a lot of discomfort. Some days she can't even eat or talk.
We are hoping things will get better with continued treatment.
Hugs to your little one--it is awful that she has to go through this.

No teething, I don't think. She has full teeth, at least in front where she pointed the pain is.
Thanks for the hugs - I hate to see her crying eyes...

Ideas to try:
sugar free popsicles may help w/pain and give a smile. Frozen watermelon pieces may help...
try an ice pack on head or cheek area if she allows it- or just a cold wash cloth.
Teething gel may help over the weekend as well...
Pressure in my face, mouth, and head is a very common pain for me. I feel for your daughter- wish I could help...hugs from here too!

My daughter also has symptoms of teeth and gum pain. But, she was a teenager. She did get three crowns and a root canal that we aren't sure now she needed.
Now, when she has that pain, we wait it out. It usually shifts sides.
You can get Orajel or something to numb the pain.

Thanks again. I will try the icy stuff mentioned here first.
Now I do notice a small reddish bump on the gums she pointed at. Will this change the whole question?

Just watch it. If it gets more angry, it could be an abcess. If she has decent oral hygiene she should be okay.

since she is 3 she should not be teething these teeth come in at age 6-7 maybe a cold sore or ulcer. primary herpes can cause extreme pain, high temp and bedridden for 7-10 days. this is a normal virus in our world and almost everyone in the world has contact to it. a small red bump is a fistula to an abscess. she probably fell and hit the tooth causing the nerve to die in the tooth. the tooth in children usually turn gray due to broken red blood cells that are stuck inside the nerve canal the fistula will probably pop and blood or pus may come out. tooth can have a root canal or be removed it will damage the permanent tooth if it is not taken care of

I shined a flashlight on her gum tonight and saw a small blister (with yellowish puss) inside on the upper gum. Could this be herpes related?
I asked her if she had hit herself somewhere and she said no. And she is pretty reliable as far as she has been.
The puss does not seems to be temp. sensitive. Just when she bites with food touching the spot, she cries.
She had temperature for a day or two prior to this incident so now I am wondering if they are related.
Hard to be a parent, I am sure you know.

Yes, I definitely think teeth aching can be a herx. I've experienced it myself, even this past week.

Turns out she might have "hand foot mouth virus" though the blisters only show up on her gum and lips. it seems to start going away now.
I wonder though if there is any connection to Lyme.
