Help>> I have been taking Mepron for 3 months now and my level is only at 18. My LLMD says I need to increase my fat intake when I take it and I have no idea how to do this. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Also I am concerned b/c I just lost about 25 pounds and really don't want to put it all back on... any suggestions.
thanks in advance..

I eat peanut butter on a wheat english muffin for breakfast. Peanut butter is a good fat. Almonds are another good source. A piece of cheese works good too.

How about trying coconut oil in a shake? It's really like a peanut butter consistency and I throw it in a blender with banana and yogurt and some frozen berries, yum

thank you to both of you... I am sitting here eating my peanut butter toast that I have been eating every morning.. but the coconut oil I haven't tried... where do you find it?

The fastest way I found was to take it with a TBSP. of olive oil. Nasty, I know, but fast and it gives you plenty of healthy fat!

I always took mepron after a big meal; breakfast and dinner. That way I did not have to add any additional fat, because most meals had some in them already, at least olive oil or dairy.

My ID doc insisted there's no blood test to measure Mepron levels in your blood. He's said it's experimental and changed the subject fast.

I did olive oil. My LLMD said "at least 24mg of fat" with Mepron. Olive oil + lemon juice made it easier to get down, plus lots of good things in cold-pressed olive oil to take anyway.

Quest labs has a test for the atovoquone levels in blood. They are the only lab that would run the test. Maybe a good idea for any one on Mepron or Malarone as some of the other abx and or supplements can lower the levels in those meds. One east coast LLMD believes that is why some stay ill from Babs too even after extended tx. It may not be the fats but a need for an increase in Mepron dose.

I swear by peanut butter from the jar. Make sure it is 100% natural though, so you don't get the trans fat. Or even Almond Butter! Trader Joe's makes great nut spreads and they are all very good for you - some even have flax seed in them for your omega 3!

I haven't done this drug but my doctor always said eat some cream cheese on a bagel or an egg to increase fat intake with other drugs that I've taken...

I'm on my forth round of Mepron and have to admit that by the 4th time, you start forgetting the basics that you learned the first time around.
Thank you for the input in this thread since I really did need this reminder.

I take it with Udo's Choice Oil Blend, an Omega 3,6,9 supplement. It is supposed to help with brain function. Can't speak of results yet.
I have started putting them both in the same dosage cup. The oil makes the mepron go down faster and the mepron covers up the oily feeling and after-taste of the oil.

I get up at 5am and couldn't stomach a lot of the suggestions mentioned above...Nutter Butter's to the rescue! It only takes 2-4 to help you absorb it and who doesn't have room for cookies? My LLMD said eat whatever you can stomach and you don't need a lot.

My favorite, which may have Lyme-fighting properties also, is COCONUT CREAM!! It tastes like a Mounds bar, is 70% coconut oil, and doesn't make you fat!!
