If you do take ketek, do you take it with other abx? If so, which ones?

thanks

I took it over a year ago as my second treatment to attack lyme. I took it alone but it would probably be better to use with another drug so that you are attacking the lyme in all of it's forms. I only took it for about 3 months altogether because it gave me headaches but it was one of the most effective abx I have ever used . You have to be careful and have your liver tested while on it. I have read it is also useful to flush out bartonella from the cells so that something else can kill it. It is best to have an LLMD help you with putting the various drugs together so you are covering all the bases. I had to use a GP taking him Dr. B's guidelines. We kind of went around in circles, me with brain fog trying to determine the best form of treatment and him agreeing to whatever I wanted without any interest of his own in getting it right. I am still in the that position as the nearest LLMD is 500 miles but having seen at least one LLMD I have a little bit more knowledge of what I am doing by what his initial recommendations were.

Thanks Nef,

I am also doing bicillin shots, so that should cover spirochetes.

Yeah, my Doc told me we would have to watch my liver carefully.

My LLMD is almost 400 miles away, so I know how you feel. I don't have a GP, they don't want me when they find out when the meds I take

My housemate, who has generously gave me a room to live in, is from Montana, more like the middle.

I took Ketek on and off for about a year - the first year of my TBD treatment.

Huge herxes, huge response - and lots of progress while on it. Good med.

Keep up with checking your liver, definitely.

I took it in combo with Mepron a lot of the time I was on it, usually adding in one more abx - like doxy or omnnicef (I think omnicef was one).

Hope it works well for you!

Took it several years ago for a few months, was very effective. But after a while my gut couldn't tolerate it anymore.

I can't remember if I was another abx while on Ketek, a few years ago now.

Hi, I took Ketek for a long time, just can't remember how many years. It was the BEST med I have ever taken! You have to have monthly liver tests just to keep an eye on your liver but don't let that scare you. I was able to stop taking it for a year and so happy! My symptoms returned in May last year and the Ketek just couldn't kick it this time. I firmly believe it is because I am fighting a Bartonella infection instead of Lyme. Don't hesitate though. It worked VERY well!
