I have change PCP in the last 3 months.

this new dr. will send me my bloodwork through the mail with a letter.....this is so wrong....

the letter states my lab work is OK except for my elevated sedimentation rate.. i should see a rheumatologist,

but what i dont get is.. the last blood work that i did with him, it was HIGH then too and he didnt mention anything about it, he just wrote ..."why are you not taking your medication for your high cholesterol?

on this lab report it states that i am positive for ANTI-NUCLEAR AB W/RFX...ANA (HEP-2)anybody knows what this means ..until i fax this over to my LLMD.

It also shows anti-nuclear B titer at 1.80 its HIGH ..... in range should be 1.40

the ANA PATTERN shows Speckled*....anybody knows what these three things means...im scared...help..What can i take to correct this..i dont know what none of this means.

DO I HAVE LUPUS.......

NO. I do believe Lyme can do this also. ANa is a common finding in Lyme patients and your titer s still considered low.

Wait a minute. You said Igenex only called you today to clear up a clerical question. So your new LL PA does not yet have your test results.

Is this an old question then, based on old tests from before you saw your new LL PA?

No, you do not need to see your rheumatologist for a high sed rate (every one with lyme has a high sed rate as it's a basic test that says there is inflammation somewhere in the body).

Rheumatologists do not treat lyme. An elevated ANA does not equal lupus. And, if you were to have signs of lupus, your LL PA is equipped to guide you there, too.

I've had very high ANA and Speckled ones, too. It's very common with lyme. Just relax and wait until your LL PA gets in the last set of tests. Then you will have more details and he can look at all the data together.

You are in good hands. I hope you can enjoy spending time doing something totally enjoyable (yet safe) until you have to move on the next step of the decision process.

No, you don't have Lupus. I had a positive ANA as well (speckled pattern.. and had myself scared half out of my wits thinking I had scleroderma)

My LLMD told me to not worry at all about it. Said most people with Lyme get positive ANA and then it goes away later after treatment.

[Smile] You're alright

I also had a positive ANA with a speckled pattern due to lyme.

I'm still confused!

No, you do not need to see your rheumatologist for a high sed rate (every one with lyme has a high sed rate as it's a basic test that says there is inflammation somewhere in the body).

Many lyme patients like myself have LOW sed rates. Some drs think it's because we have hypercoagulation.

I've had very high ANA and Speckled ones, too. It's very common with lyme.

Me too.

this is to clear up the misunderstanding about my bloodwork...and PCP AND LLMD

i did my bloodwork from my llmd at quest 1/4/10 my insurance paid for this.

I Did the igenex test at the llmd office, i had no other choice..cause quest will not cover this.

i had to come up with the two hundred dollars.
i also had to pay llmd for getting this done there.

bloodwork was first done in october 2009, cholesterol was high..

when i was going to get the lab work done for llmd, i notice nothing for cholesterol was check..

i went to my PCP and got it rechecked.. 1/25/10 it was due...got it in the mail today, and i found out about my new issue.
cholesterol is going down.

with lab work from my llmd, i can get the blood work, where my insurance pays, that is what i will be doing. hope this helps.

and thanks dekrator48, icky, keebler, and pinelady
thanks for your quick replies, i was going crazy...

i also had a speckled pattern ANA back in 2003 when i had some weird symptoms (which were probably lyme). I was diagnosed with lyme in 2007 and I just recently read an article a few months ago (have no idea what/where that actually stated that if someone has a speckled ANA to consider lyme- seriously.... I remember telling my husband about it and how it was not even investigated back then..... actually a rheumatologist told me that I probably had CREST or lupus (we would have to see how they it played out is what he said) and sent me on my way with a script for prednisone.... thank God I did not believe him or take the prednisone....

please, please, PLEASE do not think it is Lupus or something else.... Lyme causes the positive ANA and for me even resulted in a positive RF at one point.... was all negative when re-tested. it was all lyme for me....

My ANA was high and speckled before LD diagnosis and treatment.

I've been treating LD for a long time...

The good news is my ANA has been normal for at least 2-3 yrs.

uh... anyways...

Yes, I think you will get better street. You're at the right place for asking questions. People here helped me when i came here, scared out of my mind about the muscle twitches and the ANA and everything else. This is a good place to start slowly learning. You can PM me anytime if you want to talk. I've been in your shoes with that fear you are holding onto. It gets better. Do your very best to remain calm and not try to interpret things (DONT GOOGLE!!! lol) It serves no purpose, is often wrong and only causes your anxiety to get much worse. I learned that the hard way [Smile]
