During the last three days, I've done 20+ hours of labor renovating / remodeling my house! Ripped up tons of carpet, nailing down a subfloor, moving heavy furniture and other stuff. I'm sore, but this is the best I've been in 3 years!! I have driven somewhere the last 10 days. I did have some episodes, but a 200% improvement in stamina from before.
keeping my fingers crossed!!! As of Apr-10, I've been on some form of Abx for 18 months now. Not what they should've been, poor protocols, not Dr. B aggressive, but something.

That sounds very encouraging Seek!
I just had a busy weekend, doing much more than I usually do and so far I'm hanging in there better than usual.
Maybe our turning point is here! I've always said, its more about time, than dosage, and I do believe that!

very encouraging news! thanks for the report. Congrats!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!????
Oh my word!!!
Any recent changes to your regimen that has made the difference???
Hey.. I kept telling you to hang in there!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

I'm so happy to hear that. It's always great to hear good news.
I have also just had a good weekend, with more energy than I've had since I got sick 10 months ago. Nothing THAT ambitious, though.
Congratulations! Your persistence is paying off.

Thanks everyone. You may not believe this, but I truly believe a big factor was removal of a blood pressure medication I was on for 7+ years. An ULTRASOUND TECH, not any of the 40+ docs I saw - including a famous LLMD, came up with or remotely considered this idea. He suffered terribly for 1+ years and wound up in the ER with shortness of breath, fatigue, etc. over a year period.
I of course ran it by my doctor. He OKed this idea and we're exploring other options.
Of course I believe I have TBIs and am not off Biaxin. I don't think my 3-day course of Malarone knocked out WA-1. lol.
Maybe GiGi is right. It's never 'just Lyme.' Also, the weather change has helped as it does for many. I suffer horribly in Winter and very cold days (and will probably in very hot days).
I'll take what I can get and appreciate anything. I know this is a long route and I'm far from normal as my body hurts badly from doing anything. I had several times where I was breaking out in cold sweats last week. Not normal at all. I think Babesia is here.

Out of curiosity, what blood pressure med were you taking?
Posted by seekhelp (Member # 15067) on :
Norvasc and Lisinopril. Completely stopped the Norvasc, 1/2 dosed Lisinopril.
Posted by Lemon-Lyme (Member # 19229) on :
Norvasc is a calcium channel blocker, isn't it? I recall reading a lot of negative things about them.
There are some supplements you can talk to your doctor about for BP reduction, in lieu of meds (in case lisinopril isn't enough): magnesium, pomegranate, CoQ10/Ubiquinol, fish oil, lycomato, pycnogenol and grapeseed extract (meganatural BP).
I'm not suggesting all of them, as I doubt you want your BP dropping too much, but if you still are sort of borderline hypertensive, a couple of those may help.

Great News! So happy for you. I think once you get a handle on the Babs, you will feel that you have even more energy.

That is awesome! You give other people hope they will one day feel better!

Woo hoo! Great news!!!!
Didn't you just finish some babs treatment recently? Think that helped?
Enjoy it!

Seek-
I'm so happy for you. Wonderful news. You, like I, have suffered a lot from fatigue and lack of stamina/pain in the legs. I really believe that keeping the right BALANCE of minerals/vitamins in our system for muscles is important (amino acids, calcium, vitamin d, magnesium).
As you may be aware, calcium blockers can interact with some of the aformentioned. Anyway, I thought you might be interested in some user comments I found regarding Norvasc:
Norvasc was a terrible drug for my mother too. Mainly made her cough 24/7.
Have you tried terazosin for BP?

I am happy to hear you are feeling better. Can you come to Florida and help me with a few chores? ;-)
Since I seldom read general, I'm glad you posted your information here because it triggered some additional research today (which is a lot more fun than vaccuming).
Anyway...
Calcium stimulates glucose uptake (*in muscles*)! (This may account for your increased endurance.)
P13K = phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase which is linked to lots of functions including
cell survival.
PI3K-C2beta to increases TCR-stimulated (T cell receptor) activation of KCa3.1 and
***Ca(2+) influx to activate the T-cells.***
P13K - C2alpha looks to activate glucokinase the first enzyme needed for glycolysis to happen.
So can you see with those 2 P13Ks...the defense cell is primed to receive glucose.
This is very tricky because Bb needs glucose, but so do we. There is one exception...WE can use ketones to make OUR ATP.
On the internet there are pictures of how Biaxin works. It involves arginine. L-arginine is a ***substrate (one of 3) for the pertussis "toxin"*** which looks to be very very similar to what Bb's "toxin" does.
That toxin inactivates Gi because all of the substrates make up Gi! The infected cell sends to the surface a receptor...GPR 109A which is a
nicotinic acid receptor.
Like the CB2 receptors (to stop inflammation), the GRP109A receptor maybe also a call for help.
On way from pyruvate to lactate (fermenting glucose to pyruvate to lactate)...nicotinamide is broken down by nicotinamidase:
which does this:
nicotinamide + H2O <-> nicotinate + NH3
Notice it goes both ways.
NH3 is ammonia which is very toxic.
Nicotinate is a salt or ester of nicotinic acid and it is a peripheral vasodilator and cholesterol depressant.
With Gi inhibited (nothing to make it - Bb is using all the nutrients) the infected cells are stuck with GDP (not going to GTP), elevated cAMP, lots of PPi. The Na-Ca channel is open.
Mitochondria can't produce enough ATP to rescue the cell.
Bb ferments glucose -> pyruvate -> lactate.
Normally (without Bb present) pyruvate goes into the mitochondria where it -> acetyl CoA -> the TCA/citric acid cycle/Krebs cycle -> a lot more ATP.
(Can you see how Bb thus "steals" energy nutrients from the cells it infects?)
If we can get ATP up, it can donate a phosphate to GDP -> GTP -> close the Na-Ca channel "doors".
In the presence of TNFa and IL6 our liver can't convert caprylic acid to make a ketone called BHB which could "rescue" the infected defense cell and theoretically destroy Bb in the process.

Hey, Seek, I'm so glad to hear the good news. I know you suffered a lot like me, and I've been working full time for the last year and a half.
Are you still seeing Dr.C? I didn't start to feel better until I was on abx for about 22 months, so that's the key. Keep up the good work!
