My doc thinks I'm doing great. My symptoms are minimal, says I have chronic ehrlichia, chronic lyme and chronic bartonella. My mind is a mess. She wants to put me on birth control pills Yaz, to regulate my hormones and my psych raised my lamictal. I feel like I lost myself and am hoping this combination will help heal my nervous system. My wbc count is 5.1,its never been that high, so she thinks she got all on the run. I can't stop shaking and thinking ocd thoughts, even though on meds. Can this happen though the lyme seems dormant? I think I damaged my nervous system, I'm afraid its not going to mend the way I was before this happened. Thanks for all your replies for everything.

That's great!! One concern I have... have you Googled "Yaz"?

I hope the lamictal gets you back on track!!

I know there's the possibility of blood clots, which I was always scared of, but she thinks my hormones are a mess and it would help get me back.Hopefully

Sounds like your doctors are behind you... way to go!

I agree with lymetoo though, if your hormones are really out of control birth control is probably a good idea, but I may ask for something other than yaz.

doesn't sound like you and your LLMD are on the same page. Sounds like you are still having a lot of symptoms that need to be addressed. Psych meds and birth control may not be enough.

How are you feeling after the appt.

Lyme in Putnam,
Have you considered Bio Identical hormones-?
They are much cleaner don't have any additives ?

or the side effects. I would question Yaz? do some research on it.

You can also get it from your library or they can order it by interlibrary loan. It is in the national library system.

You can look inside this book and read customer reviews here:

How can they be "bioidentical" if they are NOT alive ? [confused]

bio-identical hormones are made by a compounding pharmacy with natural ingredients. The FDA is trying to stop those too.

Have been on them for years, first trying the pharmaceuticals, which just did not work for me.

Regarding your CNS stuff-
are you loading on Magnesium and doing mehtyl B-12 shots?

For me, the methyl B-12 has greatly helped my emotional well-being. If I don't take it for a while, I know it (as does every else around me! ;-)

I was on yaz for years without any ill effects and a gf of mine has really been helped by it for agitation prior to periods. There's stuff all over the Internet about it being harmful in some ways, but I'm always very suspicious of the "have you been harmed by ____" ads, so I've not looked into it too much.

I did bio-identical for a while, too, with little benefit.

And, psyche meds.

I did all of these prior to Lyme treatment and saw no real benefit by themselves.

Now, in lyme treatment and psyche med, happy with the combo of psyche meds as I think it really helps me deal with the highs and lows and address some of my neuro issues.

Does LLMD what to keep you on lyme treatment also or is she suggesting the other meds in lieu of lyme treatment? May be worth trying to use them all together. If I had those symptoms, still, I'd be leery of going off lyme treatment, BUT, would be totally willing to add psych meds.

BTW, my LLMD treats until symptoms are gone (or tries to, depending on how patient tolerates treatment), whether it's "chronic" or not.
