I received a second series of test results from Dr. C's office today.

My first Western Blot which my MD took was only reactive on 41K IGG (Quest)

At that time my MD diagnosed me with Lyme disease(April 30) based on the 41K IGG+ and put me on 200mg Doxy p/day for @ 5 weeks while waiting for an appointment to find and see LLMD.

On my first appointment with the LLMD (Dr. C in early June) he did a Western Blot and ELISA (for the fun of it?)

At the time of the that testing (2nd tests) I had only been off Doxy for 1.5 days.

ELISA (Stony Brook)

Result Ranges:
.118 Borderline cut off
.151 Reactive cut off Result

My Results:
.148 BORDERLINE

Western Blot (Stony Brook)
Result Indeterminate
Only showed 41K Band positive
but this time both 41 K+ IGM and 41K+ IGG
Plus nonspecific bands were also detected

Feel disappointed because I think I wanted some verification as to whether or not I have Lyme disease or at least some understanding related to all of my symptoms besides multiple tests for rule outs (although from what I have read there is none)

ps. still continuing Amoxicillin until next visit with LLMD in beginning of July

Any opinions about these results would be most appreciated, best, p.

Dr C sent your bloodwork to Stony Brook????? [confused]

I was wondering about Stony Brook as well. I know Dr. C uses Igenex. I wonder what he was thinking, lol!

Not sure about your results, sorry!

I believe that IgeneX shows more Lyme-specific bands than other labs. Do you have a breakdown of the bands they tested?

I don't get that at all.

Are you talking about the Dr. C in Missouri?

Dr C NY. No break down of bands shown. Just both 41K IMG & IGG were (+). Plus nonspecific bands were also detected.

Whereas my first Western Blot was only 41 Band-IGG was "reactive" NOT IMG

My insurance would not cover IgeneX and therefore decided to send Western Blot and ELISA to Stony since my 1st Western Blot-MD-used was Quest (MD did not do ELISA).

The WB from Igenex #188 and #189 is only $200 and some insurances will reimburse (spell?) for the tests but not all.

I'm so confused as to why a LLMD would send the tests to a place like this. I would think they just wouldn't test at all then.

I would say if you have a pos. for B/B/E you probably have Lyme too.

I would not worry so much about the testing and more about the results from treating.

Igenex did request you be off treatment for at least 10 days prior to draw so maybe that effected the results???

I would consider testing for various viruses....HHV-6, EBV, and enteroviruses. See: www.hhv-6foundation.org and www.enterovirusfoundation.org for more info.

Best, Timaca

Sorry cannot figure out how to send you a PM. What does [QB] mean in your post above. As well as that explains everything. I removed city. My apologies for that and thank you for telling me.
