Recently tested, my results:

IgG Subclasses 1-4

subclass 1= 405 low range= 422-1292
subclass 2= 405 range= 117-747
subclass 3= 26 low range= 41-129
subclass 4= 14 range= 1 -291

anyone know anything about these and what this means? obviously my 1 and 3 are not up to par...

what exactly is this measuring? Immune system, right? is it a sign of autoimmunity?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Feelfit

Did they test for total IGG serum?

I'm dealing with the same thing - waiting to hear back from doctor in regards to IVIG.
Actually hoping Vivaglobin instead of IV.

I had very similar test results PRIOR to getting diagnosed with lyme, etc.--when I got sick and was going from doctor to doctor. UCLA thought I had a subclass deficiency...though, the most hallmark symptom of it is near-constant upper respiratory infections (which I never had...I had 'lyme' type symptoms). Also, usually long-standing problems with infection, which I also did not have.

However, they seemed sure...my insurance denied IVIG, despite 2 letters from the head of immunology at UCLA. I appealed to the state, denied. I paid out of pocket for IVIG...it didn't help me. It was kind of awful, I had a crazy headache, and then got a rash on my hands that looked like leprosy or something for about 6 weeks.

I had no relief, and the docs at UCLA said they guessed I did NOT have a subclass deficiency illness..and, er, suggested physical therapy instead. Quite a leap.

Anyway, I've read where others here have had similar numbers. Mine haven't been looked at in well over a year, but came up low-ish, like yours, a number of times.

Feelfit, I have the same as you on subclass 1. As you know, my docs thought little to nothing of it. Michael's interpretation is accurate.

SusanA, i think they tested for IgA ttl serum (normal)

Thank you everyone for your responses..and to chuckG for the excellent link...much appreciated.

My doctor has not commented on these results (LLMD) and my PCP did not even know how to interpret the results....at least she was honest [Smile]
