I didn't like it. Had lots of hair falling out. So much it clogged the bath tub drain when I took a shower.
Hair stopped falling out once I stopped it. It didn't help me but I was tough case with the MS manifestation of Lyme/bart/babs.

I have been on it for many, many moons without any issues. Just be sure to take those probiotics.
PS Hope it's part of a combo Tx for ya, not a sole Tx. Just wanted to add that.

My daughter and I are both on it for a few months now, with no problems.
We are also taking other abx with it.

I'd love to know what the difference between it and Ceftin are. My LLMD put me first on Omnicef and then switched me to Ceftin. Both cover the same form of Lyme but Ceftin is half the cost (at Costco pharmacy anyway). I didn't ask his rationale for the switch.

Omnicef is a third generation cephalopsorin, while I believe Ceftin is second generation.

thanks again for the info-
i had some trepidation about taking it, never hearing of it before- my dr gave it to me as a substitute for bactrim-
had some awful side effects from bactrim in the past ...

No side while omnicef for two months... it does not seem to be doing anything either.

by the way, is it working for anyone?

Son was on omnicef (along with zith) for 10 months.... No adverse effects, other than he is now symptom free and doesn't have to take any meds. : )

I've also been wondering if Omnicef is strong enough. I've been taking it with Zithromax as well for 3 months, and haven't gotten any better or worse. My doctor switched me to Omnicef after trying minocycline and doxy. I think he said it's a different type of antibiotic that may cause less side effects? I'm not horrendously dizzy anymore, but otherwise don't feel any different than before starting treatment. I'm getting concerned that this med combo is not strong enough. Any thoughts?

I am having been on rifampin and bactrim DS (for bart) and omicef for lyme...
last week, I have chest pain front and back. I can feel my rib cage there is swollen. my breathing is more laborous.
also I am getting new bumps on my forehead and scalp...they hurt when touching...
I was concerned that omnicef is not strong enough for lyme, and lyme is developing further.
My doctor said that it is herxing and it will pass...
how can one tell what is hexing and what is lyme getting worse?
