My illness started in March 2010 with being diagnosed as Mastitis. I had red streaks, then a rash, pain, and was very sick. I went to the ER and was told I had Mastitis, given antibiotics and sent home. Two days later, it was worse so I went back to the ER. This time they gave me IV antibiotics for a couple of hrs. and sent home with oral antibiotics. I seemed to be getting better and then started having pain in my arms, hands, and legs. I went to a pain specialist who did a lot of bloodwork and it came back with Lyme Disease. Amost 6 mos later with daily doses of Doxy, Methyl B-12 injections, antidepressants, and darvocet, I'm no better than I was. My pain specialist has had formal training in treating Lyme. What now? I'm going crazy with pain.

What is your dosage of doxy?? Any chance your dr can switch to another med just to see if you begin improving?
Have you been checked for possible coinfections??

You mentioned Red Streaks, please get checked for Bartonella co-infection. You'll need more than just Doxy.

Just a few thoughts-- I would make sure your doctor is ILADS trained (international Lyme and Associated Diseases society.) Otherwise you are NOT getting the best care, and the doctor is probably not truly Lyme Literate. this makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. Plus, they will know which co-infections to check for and how to treat. Without the whole picture, getting well stays out of reach.
If you can, get rid of the Darvocet. Very toxic for your system. Toxicity adds more pain and burden to your body.
If antidepressants are not really helping, maybe try to wean off those as well. There are pros and cons to everything, but worth considering. I think the less meds the better. You will be on plenty for Lyme and cos as it is.
And don't forget a clean diet!! Of supreme importance!!
