Ok, so I spoke to a lyme disease/tick borne disease researcher at a University today. Super nice. I am sending him some blood samples for testing and possible lyme strain.

ANyways, he asked about my meds...IV rocephin, zith and oral flagyl. I told him the flagyl was really tough, kicked in my neuro symptoms bad (still recovering). He said he felt it was VERY effective in not just killing the cyst, but possibly killing the ketes that emerge as well.
Interesting.

Most people have a huge inflammatory response to flagyl...herx...it can't just be that the cyst are dying and the ketes are being released. Maybe the ketes are dying with the flagyl too! That would be great.

He wants me to send him my blood when I do my next flagyl pulse and start to feel bad again. Wonder what he will find. I will let you all know....

Boy, that would be great if flagyl kills the 'ketes too. I managed to contract c. diff and am on flagyl--who knows when or if I can get back to other antibiotics to treat the Lyme.

Is flagyl/tindamax a antibiotic?

spirochete.

From what I am reading about flagyl, it kills cysts forms and works on many other infections (c. diff) as well as parasites.

Hope it works as well as some doctors seem to think.

Cheers

I wish I can stay on it longer but it makes my tingling worse

Very interesting, my son (10) is on flagyl right now and has had great improvments...(knock on wood). He hasn't touched his asthma meds in over 3 mths since beginning treatment! My wife also made significant gains with "brain fog" while on flagyl.

I am also having good results with flagyl. I think for me, it is also controlling parasites because when I stop, some things come back.

Whether they are cysts or just spirochetes... they are still spirochetes. The cysts are just balled up keets.

According to the Brorson brothers who are top Lyme researchers...the cyst form of Borrelia is a "spheroblast L-form" it is "cell wall deficient" making it resistant to beta Lactams...rocephin, amox, ceftin. But susceptible to flagyl/tindamx and macrolides. Once a cyst is ruptured and any viable contents expelled...it will turn into a mobile spirochette with a cell wall again. THen it becomes susceptible to beta lactam ABX again.

This is all so confusing!!!! Why cant we just kill it all? I am trying so hard to fully understand how Borrelia works so that I can treat it the most effective way. So very frustrating.

I love Flagyl. Yes, it does kill the spirochetes aka "ketes" as well as pop the cysts.

How long did it take for you all to notice improvements on the flagyl?

In August, I did a total of 12 days flagyl in pulses...it was a horrible month. September was much better and finally Oct I am feeling much better. I am still pulsing flagyl, but tolerate it so much better.

For the tingling my LLMD said to take B-6 (50mg) when I take the flagyl.

I've been on a cornucopia of stuff, but other than my first Herckx, flagyl is the worst.
