I was re-tested this week - non LLD - for LD and Bart. IF I test positive to either standard - Igenex's or CDC's - does Igenex report to CDC or Health Dept.? TIA.

Hi, I was wondering the same question.. My first 2 tests from Quest came back negative, and my 3rd from Igenex came back postive.. Months of not doing anything due to false negatives. What a wast of time!!! Hope you feel better!

I doubt the CDC cares about an 'Igenex postive." They issue MANY more than other labs based on comments here. I'm not sure they'd consider them credible.

I wasn't called by the health department about my Igenex CDC-positive Lyme test, however, they did call me about a Labcorp positive babesiosis test.

The doctor who ordered my daughter's Igenex test was contacted by the CDC.

I was told that they call the doctor who prescribed the test when it is positive. This may be a good thing since they will see how many of us have lyme and further their research on it.

I was contacted by my local health dept. So, yes, in my case it was reported but I'm not sure if Igenex reported it or if my LLMD did.

Nobody in Canada gets reported to any monitoring agency here when they have a positive Igenex test.
This is Health Canada's stand on Labs in the US:
"With respect to use of diagnostic tests from other labs, some diagnostic laboratories in the USA perform blood tests for a fee; however, some public health institutions have warned that some of these labs may be using methods or interpretations of test outcomes that have not been properly validated, see this link for more information http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5405a6.htm). "
"We certainly do not want to see Canadians suffer especially if they have a treatable disease like Lyme disease but it is also our duty to try and ensure that people aren't treated for infections they may not have."
So it will be highly unlikely that they will be accepting those results anytime soon. That is why Lyme disease here is so grossly unreported.

I just called Igenex. Was told that they report any positive tests to CDC and state Health Dept. To include positives acc to Igenex or CDC standards. Also co-infections.
