I'm praying not to end up in the hospital this weekend (or next week) for back surgery. Tripped over my foot last night. Turns out I could not lift the front up. Not good. So, on oral steroids (not too great either considering lyme). Had steroids injected into my back in the epidural space today. Not a lot of fun, but also not that horrible either. Just as moms get their relief from labor pain, I also hope to get relief. Fortunately, I am not in as much pain as I could be considering how horrible the MRI of my low back looks. Something to be thankful for. Hopefully if I do need surgery they can relieve some of the pressure on the spinal cord and the nerve roots coming off it in the other places -- where I get pain standing or constant feeling like somebody is poking me with steel needles! Still, I listen to others and I feel lucky. A simple surgery seems not much to go through compared to others' constant pain and other problems! [Smile]

OH no. You are going to be in big trouble with Lyme due to the steroids...esp the injection.

Let's pray they help the back so you can avoid surgery!

Did you want this in Off Topic??

I have had many epidural steroid injections they always helped. I never had a bad relapse from them, but I was always on abx at the same time.

Women who get epidurals during labor actually get a different medicine than steroids, so it will not be the same kind of relief.

It will take some time for the epidural to do anything, infact you may feel really sore for a few days.

hope you are getting your lyme treated.

good luck
