now I know that this is not an easy question to answer. I know that there are many strains of lyme and many factors play into how long it takes to kill it and feel totally better. Factors such as co-infections, how long youve had the lyme disease, your over all health, how you take care of yourself. your bodies ability to detox etc etc
HOWEVER. lets say the person has no coinfections and is in good health and detoxes well and theyve had it for YEARS. at least 5 years. what is the average amount of time you think theyd have to be on meds in order to get completley better. like whats the VERY LEAST that theyd have to stay on the meds?!? I'm lookin for a ball park figure from your experiences and knowledge

I've been in treatment for almost 4 years now. Only had about 6
months, all last year, during which I had no symptoms.
have no coinfections to my knowledge, got treated with the CDC's
30 days of 200 mg/doxy right after my bite (it did absolutely
nothing, and not asking for 400 is the biggest regret
of my life), and had no health problems before getting it.

There's nothing typical about lyme. I don't know how anyone can predict. I've known some who have been in treatment for eight years and with Dr. B.

Oh, please say that isn't so. I've been infected for 30 years, my sister for 29, my oldest for 18, youngest for 15 and my nephew for 5. We need this insane ride of Lyme disease to have a getting off point. We are all on the mend so I'm going to stay positive that we wrap up treatment in 2 years.

I remember reading and I think it was Dr B. I'm pretty darn sure it was him.
Seven years was an average for those that had been chronic from early on and those that had it for years without tx.
There was something about the 7 yr mark? Anyone else remember reading this from Dr B? Seems like this was from years ago before he left practicing/seeing patients.

I think *we* talked about this recently...-cure- particularly for those with long term chronic Lyme may not be possible as it is suggested that it is impossible to get ALL the bacteria in ALL its forms.
HOWEVER, it is possible to go into remission, long term or permanently? with diligence to diet, exercise, immune support, etc...but many of us are left with the aftermath of treatment: the damage from long term meds, bacteria damage, etc.
To paint a realistic picture...there is no cookie-cutter time frame. There are SO many variables, and until the gov't agencies can get their thumbs out of you-know-where and recognize this disease and give it the attention it deserves....this is really the best we can hope for. Permanent remission.

Don't want to be a kill joy be no one can predict that. No one has even unlocked the absolute way to get rid of it so how can we predict how long it will take and every case is different.
Take a look at how long some have been on this forum and are still treating. This is a very complicated illness.
I wish you a speedy journey through this illness, that's all can say.

My answer keeps getting longer and LONGER.
When I was first diagnosed I was sure I only had Bb and would be cured in a few months. Now it is over three years into treatment and I know I have three infections.
Still I am optimistic - it won't be much longer. I was sick for one and a half years so for me recovery takes twice as long as being sick.
I don't believe many people only have lyme. That is the first big mistake I made.
