i don't know how to describe this but here goes.

when i lay down at night i will get skipped heartbeats, then all of a sudden i get this loud whoosh sound and my chest locks up and i can't breathe.

imagine a dam with a lot of water behind it and the damn breaks and the water comes rushing through the land. it creates a large rushing noise right?

i can't describe it any other way but whoosing sounds.

i know i have an enlarged heart but i don't think it's that. lyme maybe???

Whoosing sound could be from a heart murmer. Have you seen your doc?

Strange coincidence that you posted this. Yesterday the vet diagnosed my horse with a heart murmur which sounds like what you describe. You should see a doctor.

Here is a link with the sound for aortic regurgitation

There are other recorded heart sounds here as well.

If you can hear the murmur without a stethoscope it is very serious.
