Hi, I finally got my results from the new llmd today. I am feeling a little confused by it because it also has a note about not meeting CDC criteria to be positive for Lyme.

Please Help me interpret these results:

Lyme WB IgM: Indeterminate
IGM Bands 41
Igm Nonspecific bands were also detected. (31,66,72,93)

IGG Bands (kDa): 41
IgG Nonspecific bands were also detected. (72)

Looks like you tested negative on both the IgM and IgG western blot. Keep in mind, however, that both tests are only around 70-80 sensitive; i.e., each test has a false negative rate of about 20-30 percent.

Ok, so....the llmd wants me to go on aggressive oral antibiotic treatment for 3 months.

She is starting me slowly with 1 antibiotic, testing levels in 2 weeks, adding a second antibiotic, testing again in 2 more weeks, then adding a 3rd antibiotic...then I will be on 3 antibiotics at the end of it until 3 months.

Is it right to do this if I seem negative?

I am a bit skeptical, although, I bought the first antibiotic right away.

Your test is negative for tracking purposes, but you do have Lyme-specific bands (band 31, band 93) and that is probably why the doctor wants to retest after an abx challenge.

The tests are very insensitive, especially in chronic Lyme, because the immune system response required to have a positive test is usually suppressed in chronic Lyme.

Band 72?? That's a new one on me.

Band 83-93 is the DNA of the Bb.

Regardless if the test is negative or positive, if you have the clinical symptoms and can rule out mono, strep, anemia, etc. etc. then you have it probably, if all factors are in place. One way to know for sure, if you herx after taking antibiotics, that'll tell ya for sure.

Heck, I herxed on the low dose that regular MD's give! I knew then.....
If your doc is LL, then follow his/her direction. Monitor your symptoms. Good luck!!1

I had the same thing done. My igenex looked like yours and my doc gave me omincef, then added zithro and took another test in two months.

I had many more ind and positive bands show up but still CDC negative. I have been on omnicef now for 5 months and my llmd will take another test next month to see if the bands go positive. This will help get my insurance to pay for IV therapy and help my SSD case to see positive testings..

You will know if you have lyme if your symptoms get a bit worse instead of better after taking the abx..that is whay happened with me. Good luck
