I was wondering how many people have gotten autoimmune conditions after getting Lyme? I was diagnosed with ic, psoriasis, osteoarthritis, and psos. I keep waiting for the next ball to drop. Do any of your conditions go away after proper treatment?

I have IC but it's not an autoimmune problem. It got WAY better with Lyme treatment.

I do have Sjogren's now. Oh joy. I think I've had it quite awhile.

Yes. Sorry. I have pcos too. How do you handle the sjogrens if you can't take immune suppressants?

Just toughing it out. I am on 10mg of cortef for adrenals and I guess it helps some.

There are certain tissue types associated with this, like HLA-DR4 and DQB1 0602, which have been reported to lead to RA and MS, respectively.

I am currently dealing with auto-immune neuropathy that was most likely as a result of a lyme.

After having been treated for a number of years for lyme and co-infections, no one can be certain if and when the auto-immune condition will get better. Hopefully I am one of the lucky ones one day!

There are some people who do take low-dose immuno-suppressants (not steroids) to help (i.e. imuran, etc) but it depends on your situation and what the doctor(s) think.

Hope you feel better...

Thanks, David! Do you think you got the neuropathy from the medications?

Check out www.roadback.org. It is a site for infection-based autoimmune disease. Many have discovered they have lyme.

It was not caused by any medications because my neuropathy was the first symptom I got many years ago which eventually led to a lyme diagnosis.

I am currently on IVIG which seems to help somewhat and helps to confirm an auto-immune diagnosis (along with some blood work).
