I am wondering if anyone has still not gotten either a positive Elisa or western blot but still thinks they have Lyme. I have been tested for each twice, with negative results. I just don't know who to trust because it seems like everyone has their own agenda. If you do believe you still have Lyme, then I would like to hear why.

I don't remember any tick bite or rash, really the only things I have that are Lyme-like are transient symptoms and the fact that they cannot find anything wrong with me. I have no neurological symptoms, and never had a fever or nausea. Just muscle/joint pain, sore throat, fatigue and hot flashes. But these symptoms qualify for like 80 different illnesses as well.

I dont want to offend anyone, because I know this is a sensitive issue, but I don't want to waste my time if Lyme has been ruled out for me.

Have you had a test thru Igenex Lab?

My Western Blot test was not clearly positive. The second test showed more bands than the first one. (following an antibiotic challenge)

If you have Lyme-specific bands, nothing other than Lyme can cause them to show up.

--PS-- the ELISA is known for its false NEGATIVES.

PS PS .. I was successfully treated!

Hi Matayl4:

Our daugher has never had a positive test but I remember pulling the tick off of her with a tweezers. Didn't do a good enough job with the tweezers or subsequent medical doctors.

She has had 2 Elisa negatives and 5 negative Western Blots. On the Western Blots she has had positive markers with one specific to lyme and the indeterminates were also lyme specific.

It wasn't till the 2nd Western Blot that we say the band readings and her only positve for Lyme wouldn't even have shown up on a regular WB as they don't test band 34.

We went to 8 MD's (maybe 9) 2 children hosipitals, over 8 months plus MRI's, numerous tests.

Just know Alan Steere and the CDC set the diagnosis standard high as they felt the disease was over diagnosed and over treated.
