Cipro was helping, but had to stop it due to tendinitis in both Achilles tendons. Rifampin never really did much but had to stop that too due to skyrocketing liver enzymes! LLMD said that I may be out of options to hit bartonella! Yikes! Any thoughts? Anyone kick bart without either rifampin or a fluoroquinolone?

Do not believe you are ever out of options. Cannot say I kicked bart with another drug, but have been able to get it somewhat under control with herbs and rifing.
May be time to look at some alternative treatments.

I was able to kick Bart with Zithromax - 750 mg a day for about 5 months. However, I got reinfected last spring with a new Bart strain and haven't been able to kick it yet. Ask your Dr. About Zithromax though! Worked like a charm my first go round!

My daughter is on zith, mepron and bactrim to hit babs and bart. I'm on a-bart to hit bart. My cat (if you can believe this) is on Zith for bart/myco.
Did you get a positive blood test for bart?

Hi Tri: I have a feeling I may not be too far away from your predicament. I am on Levaquin and it is the only thing that has worked but I must say that the side effects-- tendon- muscle are pretty brutle and I know I can't stay on it forever. Have you heard of Gentimicin... that is something that is supposed to be very effective against Bart and I may be left to that... I would try Bactrim DS as I have heard many folks beating it with that over time. The Abart doesnt seem to touch mine... nor did rifampin and zith - hit it like levaquin does. It is very tenacious... I have considered rife too... and the info. on Zith is very helpful...
NEVER, never get up... if I have learned one thing from all of this... it is that... It might be time to see a new doc. Blessings to you..

Rife is an effective Bart killer but you need to rife for it everyday bc it multiplies so fast. It hasn't cured my Bart yet, but I believe it will over time. It has knocked about 90% of my Bart symptoms out. Dbergy over on the rife thread was able to completely cure his wife of it using a combo of cumanda and rife treatment.

What about Rifabutin? A "newer" Rifampin that is easier on the liver. Try it!!

My husband is taking ceftin and HH. HH is a Chinese herb that has been proven to kill bartonella. There is also a HH+ if the lower dosage isn't working.
There is only one place to purchace it and that is at www.hepapro.com. This is the most concentrated and pure HH. My husbands doctor has him on one capsule for 4 days. Then one capsule 2x's a day for 4 days. Finally one capsule a 3 times a day. The HH+ will be used if HH isn't strong enough.
You should look into it.

Bactrim DS with a macrolide worked for me. I was symptom free for about a year. Then after treating babesia for ten months and suppressing it, the bart began to emerge again. But it goes away completely when I take Bactrim. I just don't know how to keep it away for good!!
