Started malarone and zith a few weeks ago. The malarone dose is only 1 pill 2 x day. Low dose.

It was helping the hot flashes and sweats about 50%. Great news! But, it wasn't enough. So, I upped the dose to 2 pills twice a day and wham!! My body temp is almost back to normal...not waking up hot anymore.

Now, I have to figure out how to ask my LLMD for a script at a higher dose. I don't think he'll want to do it but I can't keep taking the higher dose or I'll run out too soon.

For symptom relief and treatment progression, nothing compares to being on the right dose of Babesia meds.

Keep going and figure out how to ask for those meds. You know your body. You deserve to get your health back. Be strong.

if your llmd won't do it you could always add in art to hit the babs harder. Another ideas is to ask for mepron?

this is all for Babesia??? how hard is it to fight?

. what else helps?

Treatment progression?? Does this mean you go on to other treatment after a while.. Or this usually does it, if long and strong enough?

yep. it's a tough bug to beat. I've treated and relapsed several times, like many others here. It is what is keeping me the sickest. Babs treatment usually takes several rounds of rotating babs meds for long periods of time.

That being said, if you can beat it, you will feel a lot better and can treat lyme more effectively. Babesia also suppresses the immune system, much like lyme.

If it makes you feel better, I'm on 6 pills a day of the new generic version. No issues...but I also weigh over 200 lbs.

bcb1200 for how long your doc wants to keep you in treatment for BABS DUNCANI?

Manybites...I started Malarone with 3 pills a day in June and upped it to 6 in July. I'm going to be on it at least through December and likely through Feb (6-8 months.)

I'm currently off of it for 2 days as I'm going to be doing a round of Coartem on Friday-Sunday and you have to stop Malarone and Zith 4 days before / after.

Yes, it is helping me. I think it is the Proguanil primarily that works on Duncani. The hot flashes and sweating is all much much better.

I'll be starting Rifabutin next week after restarting malarone.

I love the new generic malarone, BTW.
