I'm coming down with the flu for the first time since my autoimmune/stealth infection diagnosis and I'd like to know if there are any special precautions I should take.
Thanks.

Wow, you have influenza, and you can still get out of bed?
Stock up on elderberry extract, which is anti-viral. There were studies done with Sambucus, and there are other brands available now too. You can read reviews at iHerb.com and it's available at the drugstore.
Influenza is a respiratory infection. High fever Severe headache Severe muscle aches Severe cough, dry

Boneset tincture seems to work for me as a prophylactic. I used elderberry extract as a prophylactic last year with good results but it did not work this year. My ND said it wasn't working well for her clients either. I *think* it could be due to a change in strains but that is a wild guess.
Taking Oscillococcinum at the first signs of the flu can lessen the severity. Beefing up vitamin C can be very helpful. I take 2-4 grams a day.
A google search or even a search in the archives here will uncover many other remedies for the flu.

@ Carol: You're too funny! Yes, I'm still upright 12 hours after my first symptoms, so I'm thinking it may be a nasty cold due to it's slow onset.
My boyfriend got it first and had minor symptoms for three days before being knocked flat for 3 days. He had severe fatigue, fever, chills, muscle aches, chest congestion, dry cough, sore throat and runny nose.
I already take liquid zinc and 3g of Vitamin C daily.
After doing a little research, I've decided to get some elderberry extract. Thanks for the recommendations!

There is a product called "Take Care" that is made of elderberry. It actually tastes good!
Good luck!

Success!
I've been taking elderberry extract the last couple days and haven't gotten nearly as sick as my boyfriend.
I'm convinced now that it's only a cold because the onset has been so slow and my symptoms aren't severe.
