My lyme doc believes I will be done with treatment in the next 3-4 months. He's one of the top 5. He says that I can safely get pg as long as I stay on abx throughout pg and breastfeeding. Of course, even though he says this, I am still fearful that in the future, we will find out that the abx during pg did not protect the baby.
I'm really interested in hearing your honest thoughts and feelings about someone choosing pregnancy after chronic lyme treatment.
thanks for taking the time to share - this is such a huge decision

A friend of mine with Lyme and Bartonella just had her first baby in January. She was on Amoxi and Zith all through her pregnancy.
She had 3 samples of cord blood and 3 samples of breast milk tested by Igenex. All came back negative.
Her baby is healthy and happy.

Oh! I should add that she did NOT crash after delivery. She's doing great.
She worked with a midwife group in Everett. They knew about her Lyme. She got some lectures from the male MD in the practice, but all of the midwives were super cool.

Dr j states you MUST be on 2 and for the duration of pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Zithromax plus omnicef or bicillin or amoxicillin

bcb1200 - do you have his complete pregnancy protocol? that would really help!

That's what I was on...omnicef and zith. Little guy is 11 weeks old and doing well.

I know this is probably going to be very unpopular, but,
I had 2 children while having chronic Lyme UNTREATED.
The first child I breast fed, she has Lyme and co. The 2nd child, I did not breast feed, for personal reasons, and she is not infected, completely neuro typical.
So, please be careful with the breast feeding.
And God bless, having a child is a true gift :-). You'll be great!

These posts are encouraging because I have been worried I cannot have a family now because of lyme and co...

philly: congrats and please give your little one a kiss from me!
surprise: I appreciate your honesty - luckily, we can do that here since so many out there seem not to be!
I feel like it's going to happen and I have a feeling also that there are protocols that will keep my baby safe - I just feel it!

Both my kids have congenital lyme plus co infections. I was undiagnosed at the time. We had fertility issues (makes sense now that I know about the Lyme) and had both children via IVF. I would be very careful about any fertility drugs you take, meaning monitor your hormones after to get them back in check. I really think the fertility drugs wacked out my hormones and that added to the cascade. I do not tell you this to scare, but give you something more to look into so you can do all possible to counteract. I breast fed both my kids as well and had a twin loss with my second child. Just be informed and ever vigilant.

Agree with Surprise about breastfeeding I viewed a Dr K video and he said that transmission was FOUR times more likely through breast feeding.
But the good news is that it can be cleaned up with high doses of chlorella.
Good luck with having a baby! I am excited for you!

thank you I can't imagine NOT breastfeeding my child - that would feel like torture and so unnatural
yes, my llmd also mentioned chlorella - I take it now for metal detox

**If you've had a child born/given Lyme and co-infections, you can imagine it.

My daughter is due in 4 weeks after being treated for lyme. She did get pregnant before the doc felt she should, BUT she had been feeling great and many of her test results had flipped. She is on zith and has been the whole time. Her doc is one of the top LLMDs. We are praying all the baby test results come back clear.
Outcomes that are upbeat are much appreciated. My heart goes out to those that were not as fortunate.
Will try and post back her outcome to add to this ongoing compilation of results

gardenoflyme Congratulations! I would love to hear how things progress.
Is she planning on breastfeeding? getting breastmilk tested?
Posted by gardenoflyme (Member # 9261) on :
Nothing has been said about testing breastmilk yet.
