Is neurological lyme only treatable from IV antibiotics? Or can it be treated through oral antibiotics? I'm assuming I have neurological lyme sense I got Bell's Palsy and for the last 4 years have had muscle twitches, degenerating eyesight, numbness/ loss of feeling in neck, face, arms, legs, torso. Going to start getting treated ASAP just trying to find a suitable LLMD. Also I feel I also might have invaded my heart. At different points I get a rush feeling in my chest and it pumps too big beats that I can feel immensely. I'm only 24 but I due take high blood pressure meds and I'm "obese" 6"5 350 pounds. So I'm not sure if that's the lyme or my weight/blood pressure meds.

Thanks to all who reply.

Hi fija-sorry you are experiencing all of these symptoms. Glad to hear you are looking to see an llmd-that is the first step! I have neuro lyme and most of my symptoms are at bay with oral antibiotics. I have not done iv and the numbness, twitches, vertigo, etc are all gone!! I also have heart issues and these are much improved with bartonella meds-also oral. So, in my case, orals have been helpful. Good luck! Once you find an llmd, you will be well on your way! This is a great place to come to for support

BTW, the weight is likely just one of many lyme results. Don't blame everything on your weight.
And don't try to "diet" but just focus on a healthful diet of good foods, enough to fuel your cells.

Avoid all diet drinks, all artificial sweeteners, too. STEVIA (from a plant) is okay.

Also don't do aerobic exercise as that can be damaging to the heart during infection. Gentle movement. Even just walking or strolling as best you can often.

Same with high blood pressure, lyme can CAUSE that. And some of the medicines used can have side-effects. There are other choices but first:

Get to a LLMD.

Magnesium deficiency is common with lyme. Taking a good MAGNESIUM (glycinate, citrate) can help many lyme symptoms, such as twitching and muscle tightness or pain.

You mention your heart. Magnesium is a good supplement that can help the heart, too, as you await a LLMD appointment. Other things here, too:

This can be a symptom of low magnesium.
Lyme causes low magnesium, as the Lyme bacteria live in our cells and use it up for themselves.

The nerve cells need it for all enzyme processes, and when it's low, mayhem results....muscle twitches, spasms, cardiac irregularities and palpitations, seizures.

Regarding the numbness, a good B multiple may help.
I had numbness in my feet for six weeks, but when I took a B100 vitamin, it resolved the next day!
