i have a friend who pulled an embedded tick out by hand, dumb i know. i was going to have him take some preventative abx. what should i recommend and how much? doxycycline is out as he is in the sun all day.

yes i understand you are not drs and to use my own judgment before taking any medical advice.

Does tetracycline cause sun sensitivity, too? If not, I would think that would be best to start with, because it is similar to doxy.

Also, Amoxil, and third maybe zithromax.

But of course, see an LLMD, which might take months.

In the meantime, if they run out of meds, try the Buhner protocal.

Our llmd, who is located in the southeast, uses minocycline during the summer.

Apparently, it doesn't cause the sun-sensitivity that doxy does.

Important to realize, though, from that first dose, monotherapy (with just one Rx, and one that can't address the cyst form, anyway) can cause chronic lyme by driving spirochetes into hiding.
