The other night I woke up to a rapid heartbeat and a feeling like I was speeding.
Anyone who has taken high doses of prednisone will know that speedy kind of feeling...it's inside, racing feeling.
I have not taken anything or ingested anything that should cause this at all.
Is this a common symptom during treatment?

I've been having that as well during sleep.
It needs further investigation, to make sure my heart is OK, as mine seems to skip beats, pause, and then in response to an adrenaline surge, speeds up.
Only notice this at rest.
When do you see an LL?
How often does this happen to you?
Are you consuming caffeine, or MSG or the like before this happens?

It has happened before treatment but I have been told in the past that I have a leaky mitrial valve. I don't even know what that is...☺
No consumption of anything that could cause racing or irregular heartbeat. I just hate that racing feeling.
Also, I have been experiencing some intermittent pain in my chest on the left side, just below the breast bone.
I see my LLMD on Friday for a follow up. I have been keeping a diary of new or exacerbated symptoms since beginning treatment and have added this to the list.

- Yes, very common with lyme / TBD and during treatment. Communicate with your LL doctor.
Avoid all food additives and all processed foods. They can cause this, too.
GLUTAMATE (it's often too stimulating for us). Too much in your diet, supplements? Low B- 6 (needed to convert it)? See the glutamate detail here, too, in the amino acid post:

- You mention prednisone side effects, as if you recall from a past time. Be sure your LLMD is aware of when that was and the dose, time line. It really matters in the treatment protocol for you now, as to that steroid history.
And, just so you have this detail for the future (wish we ALL knew this back when . . . )

- And, of course, be sure your antioxidant level / liver support is all well and good. It really matters to the heart, to reduce free radicals / toxicity, that can speed the heart:

Thank you Keebler!!
I've made a list of symptoms to bring with me to my doc tomorrow and will be sure to mention this to him.

As an asthmatic my entire life, I've done multiple rounds of steroids. Over and over again. I have refused them for years now due to the horrific side effects.
