Just starting a round of Fluconazole for an overgrowth identified by my LLMD.
I've been through this once before about 2 years ago.
Is it common to have one set of symptoms for one overgrowth.....and different symptoms the next time around?
There are so many yeast related symptoms, that I would think this to be logical.
For example, my 1st bout with this was mostly headaches, anxiety, morning nausea, fatigue, abdominal pain/soreness.
This time around, I have the fatigue, abdominal pain/soreness, almost constant post nasal drip, anxiety, shortness of breath in the morning (probably from all the mucus settling in one place over night?), lightheaded, body aches (especially places like my upper back where I sometimes experience issues).
Also getting up a couple of times throughout the night to urinate (though this can be totally unrelated).
I only have to take for 2 weeks (along with double dose of Kolorex).
Hope to feel better soon. Posted by 2roads (Member # 4409) on :
jwick25, what yeast did you have before, and WHAT ONE NOW.
Thanks,
2roads

Well, if your last treatment for yeast was 2 yrs ago then I would say it is possibly more ingrained now. So that would make sense with the increased numbers of symptoms.
Your die-off is much stronger this time. Hang in there!
Be sure to follow the diet or you will be right back where you started once you go off the fluconazole.

Yeah...sticking to the diet strictly.
This is rough....lol. I'm only on day 2 of treatment, and I am already feeling gross.
Actually had a brief panic attack while out this afternoon.
Last time, I had to treat for 3 months. This time, only 2 weeks. Hope this does it.
Oh, would inner thigh pain qualify as a symptom? My left inner thigh is really bugging me out of nowhere. Who knows, right?

Hi 2roads,
What do you mean? Are there different types?
My blood results show 3 different areas being tested. Is this what you are referring to?
Hope all is well!

Yes, it's rough!
Don't worry about testing... it's not any more accurate than Lyme testing. Go by symptoms.
It's good to know which strain .. if the test is accurate. A lot of times people are riddled with it and the candida won't show up on the test.
Posted by jwick25 (Member # 15190) on :
What I see on my test results is:
C. Albicans IGG: 1.6 (High) C. Albicans IGA: 2.3 (High) C. Albicans IGM: 0.8 (In Range)
It says that anything less than 1.0 indicates antibody not detected.
You know how the drug Cipro has a warning about thigh pain leading to some issue (can't remember at the moment)?
Is this a risk associated with Fluconazole as well? My thighs feel weird....but I didn't think this is was risk with Fluconazole.
I took Cipro once, and after 2 pills had to stop due to major thigh pain.
Interesting about the candida strains....

It's not anything like a quinolone, but you may want to be sure you are getting enough magnesium. Also call your pharmacist or DR and/or check online for the list of side effects.

Thanks, Lymetoo. My LLMD actually gave me potassium/ magnesium pills to take around my cycle to help with cramps a bit. Haven't taken them yet, but maybe I'll take them now...?
I can ask my pharmacist.
I think my lymph nodes must be full or something. I feel like someone has a hand squeezing around my neck.
I'm supposed to go away for the weekend, and hoping the worst of this passes by then.
Posted by jwick25 (Member # 15190) on :
Not sure if I should take my next pill, as the lymph nodes in my neck feel really enlarged.
If I take the next pill (only taking 1 daily), won't this get even worse?
I'm scared that if it gets worse, my breathing might be affected.

Die-off can be really rough. Maybe you should skip a pill. Isn't your pharmacist available today?
He/she would likely suggest not taking it since it could be an allergic reaction.

I wound up taking it. I really hope to have the worst of it over by the weekend, so I wanted to stick to it.
Then, I went for a short walk to get my lymphatic system movin' and groovin'.
Heat on my neck seems to help at least a bit. Lots of lemon water. Epsom salt bath later.
It actually calmed a bit, so that's why I decided to take it. If it gets bad again and doesn't calm down before tomorrow's dose, I will likely take a day off to focus on detox.
I don't think it's an allergic reaction because I was on this drug for at least 2 months at once a couple of years ago. Only had die-off reactions.
Plus, I think allergic reactions would not get better so quickly. Who knows....?
Oh, I also looked up how to do a quick in-home lymphatic drainage....or at least something that is supposed to help stimulate drainage.
I'll try anything.

Tonight, I'm starting to get some of those symptoms back. Abdominal pain (mild to moderate at most), etc. The worst is the full lymph nodes in my neck.
I feel like someone has their hand around my throat and is choking me.
I wonder.....how often can epsom salt baths be taken? I took my first one 2 nights ago. It wiped me out a bit. In fact, the next morning I was still a little wiped.....but then started to feel better.
I wonder if I can take another tonight? It seemed to help me detox. I just don't want to tire myself out too much.
Thanks for the link! I will definitely take a look!

I think once a day is fine. I know some who do them twice a day, but for a lyme patient that would be too much!

Thanks! I am already so beat tonight, so I might try it again tomorrow afternoon and schedule some time to relax.
Never realized how much they can take out of you.

Yeast is my worst enemy right now
I think I'm never going to be rid of it!
Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
amy .. go find the other thread on Candida.. it's either on page 1 or 2 here
Read the info and links! There is hope!

How are you feeling, amyb?

jwick, hope you are feeling better.
Did you get a sore throat while treating with Diflucan?
Just wondering if a sore throat might be die off.
Posted by jwick25 (Member # 15190) on :
Hi Jane2904,
My throat did get a little sore from the candida overgrowth. I think that was a symptom before I even started the Diflucan.
My LLMD did say that a sore throat can be a symptom.
I'm going to call on Monday because I feel as though I didn't totally kick this thing.
My diet has not been perfect, but I've been trying very hard to stick to a candida legal diet.
