I am relatively newly diagnosed and been in treatment for about 4 months.
I have read the posts from years past on Flu shot (and if to get one) but would appreciate any new posts on opinions re Lyme treatment and getting the flu shot.
I hadn't realized this until last year but there are in fact varying types of flu shot (different manufacturers) and some have very minimal preservatives and are much "cleaner" than others.
And, it is of course (other than the mist) not a live virus. So, i don't really understand why even a broken immune system wouldn't benefit from it.
I have been diagnosed with late Lyme, have apparently had it for "years", and have had the flu shot for the last 8-10 years due to a child w/Asthma and had minimal problems.
LLMD says "def not." ??

Your LLMD is right, but you get to decide for yourself.
I did get it while I was pregnant and sick with "fibromyalgia". I was fine. But now I wouldn't ever get it again because I know the risks.

It will just cause a flare in lyme and any coinfections you are harbouring.

My doc says that when you get a vaccine, your body's attention goes to making antibodies for that and doesn't focus on the Lyme.
Basically, your immune system won't be working against the Lyme and coinfections so they'll bloom.
It's your choice, but that's what you can expect to happen.
Listen to your LLMD.

I got the pneumonia vaccine last year, before I was dx. My symptoms flared big time. I went down hill fast. Just my 2 cents

How can you kill a virus, that is soooo micro, and that is not even considered alive (as it is just genetic material)?
How can one even divide a virus? Or kill it?
Whatever people say, just read about what ARE viruses, and take your own conclusions.
Bacteria are HUGE in comparison, and are full beings, who eat, defecate, reproduce... But viruses...?
