Hi - I need to take a salt supplement due to POTS. However, my potassium is now a little high and the supplement that I have been taking (thermotabs) contains potassium, so I need to stop it.
Can anyone recommend a salt supplement that doesn't also contain potassium?
thank you!

I was just prescribed prescription sodium chloride, tough on the stomach though.
I don't like taking the, they upset my stomach some and bloat me.
I would rather just use table salt.
How do you do with taking Caffiene,I have found it a great help for me.
I drink hot cocoa with stevia about 6 times a day and find the caffeine really helps.
Compression socks have also helped.
I go through a standard table size salt shaker every 4-5 days plus prescription salt pills and my blood pressure still rides 10-20 points below normal.

May I ask how your digestion is with pots?
Digestion takes all my energy and just fatigues the hell out of me.

Caffeine doesn't do anything for my POTS... and digestion seems ok.
thanks for the idea to get it via prescription.. had not thought of that.
Anyone have an OTC salt supplement without potassium?
thanks!

Here's what i do: buy some empty capsules from Swanson's for about three dollars. FIll them with iodized table sea salt. Works great. No fillers.

Not to change the subject but I have started wearing compression garments and they are helping.
I wear underarmour compression pants,50 bucks a little pricey but well worth it and also compression socks.

My doc suspects that I have POTS as well (asked me to monitor for a month, then we may proceed with the tilt table test).
I use Real Salt, but I think it still has trace amounts of potassium.
My question on salt, for any of you that know - how do I know how much to take in? It seems like adding just a little to my water daily causes bags under my eyes. It doesn't make sense to me since I cook most of my own food and don't eat processed foods. I only salt for flavoring while cooking.

I haven't even thought about potassium, should I?
I can go through a standard table salt shaker in 5 days, crazy amount of salt and my blood pressure still is 10-20 points low.
I find a lot of fluids helps more than a lot of salt but of course you need both.
Caffeine really helps me.
I avoid heat, bending over, raising my arms to much.
Big meals will do me in,digestive aids help especially digestive enzymes
I sure am pleased I tried these compression garments although they are warm this time of year.
I stopped taking the prescription sodium chloride, tough on the stomach and bloated me.
Im sticking with table salt, will have to read up on potassium.
A lot of us lymies have had abnormal brain spect scans, seems to be a pattern.
Lyme seems to effect blood flow and the autonomic nervous system

It appears table salt has hardly any potassium

Do you guys find that you have a weak pulse? It's only my observation, but compared to others, I feel my pulse is weak.
I also think my circulation is poor because I always have cold hands and feet.
