When a patient has plateaued (meaning, is no longer improving), or getting worse symptoms (increasing pain and numbness), these are indicators of an inadequate treatment plan or that your case is beyond your doctor's expertise.
Since you even get the impression that your doctor is at a loss for what to do, that is another indicator that it is likely time to move on to a better doctor.
Have you considered finding a doctor with a different approach or more expertise?
Have you compared your treatment to the Burrascano Guidelines? That means your dosages are the high dosages that Burrascano recommends and you are taking combinations of antibiotics to to attack lyme in at least 2 forms (spirochete and cyst).
It really pays to compare your treatment to Burrascano. Perhaps you will be able to suggest something to your doctor once you do this comparison. But, still, if the patient is having to suggest treatment to the doctor, that is an indicator that it is time to move on.
Perhaps once you study Burrascano you will have some suggestions for your doctor this week. And, at the same time, try to find a better doctor.
Do NOT leave your current doctor until you have had one appointment with a new lyme doctor and are satisfied that the new one is better (has more expertise) than your current doctor.
You never want to be in a situation where you have no lyme doctor.
If your brain is currently not working well enough to compare your treatment to Burrascano, you can write to me privately and I will do it for you. Name the antibiotic and the dosage you are taking.
I finally got rid of lyme and cos once I switched to my third lyme doctor--one who followed the Burrascano Guidelines.
I had had lyme for at least 10 years undiagnosed, and I had received lousy lyme treatment for 2 years. Then, I switched and everything turned around.
I know it can be scary to think of changing doctors, but it was the best decision I ever made in my life. In 8 months, I was symptom-free!
So, start looking into better doctors. See what the wait is to see someone better.

No idea at all whether this would help - I take turmeric powder and it relieves pain for me. I get it in bulk at the health food store and dip 00-size empty capsules into it. I take a couple a day. It works fairly quickly. You'll know right away if it helps or not.

Have you tried treating parasites yet? Mold? Heavy metals?
