Hello, I first want to say, thank you to everyone here, this board has been very helpful.
I am pulling my hair out. My daughter tested positive last June for Lyme by Igenex,
She was treated first 2 weeks on Doxy, then switched to Zithromax as she could not tolerate the Doxy.
She took Zith for 6weeks , with a couple of weeks of Artemsia, and allimed.
Some symptoms resolved , but not everything.
Her LLND, thought she had Babesia and she took Mepron for two weeks, but had to stop causing , indigestion.
She tested positive For Bartonella Hensalae and Quintana( not sure if spelled correctly)in November 2008. Igg
The ND had her eliminate Gluten, wheat, MSg, didn't notice any relief in symptoms.
Her pediatrician feels that at this point her Lyme was treated and no treatment needed for Bartonella.
Her pediatrician blames her symptoms at this point on anxiety. Urgh. yes some anxiety and depression, but I don't think it's the cause of her symptoms.
Anyway, we started her on Celexa for the anxiety and Depression end of J
anuary at a low dose.
Gradually working up to 20mg. as she has been for at about 1 month.
Since being on 15-20mg she is having lightheadness, some dizziness. She is very sensitive to medicine.
Please, anyone have any experience on this med., she actually takes the generic for Celexa. Have you experienced lightheadness, etc on this medicine.
I m wondering if it is not the med, but Lyme or Co infections. We see Dr. J, finally next Month.
Sorry for the long post.

Before LYME I took celexa for 9 mos for terrible clinical depression, I had some dizzyness and headache and gained 5 lbs these sideaffects stopped after 3-4 wks. It really brought me back to life. I didn't take the generis one, maybe you should switch to the name brand?

I was on Celexa (pre-lyme) for depression for 9+ months and it worked very well for me.
My worst side effect was dry mouth.
In Dec. 07 (post-lyme) I went on Celexa (20mg generic) again for two weeks and had a terrible time with it.
I had headaches, was extremely irritable, and felt very shaky inside.
I was also having nightmares and night sweats.
I told my doctor about these negative effects and was told I needed to give the medicine more time.
I refused, I was that scared...I told her that I felt very different not just depressed.
I was fatigued, had a number of cognitive problems....
She said maybe I had ADHD and sent my to a psychiatrist.
He said I was bi-polar...because of my irritability, my inability to sleep, and my reaction to anti-depression medicine...long story.
Anyway...I am sure they are both wrong and I am looking for the correct diagnoisis.
You mention your daughter's pediatrician, so I assume your daughter is young.
Anti-depression medicines effect young people differently...you may want to hear from someone under 18.
Also my advice would be to go to a specialists when dealing with anti-depression medicines and children.
I would also suggest a psychiatric nurse, I found one and am happier because I get counseling and medicine monitoring from the same person.
