I currently see Dr. C in NY but my husband and I are relocating in the next year to Cincinnati, OH.

Would truly appreciate any feedback on your experiences with any docs within an 8 hour radius of Ohio.

Thank you!

Could someone also send me feedback on Dr. R in OH.

I am trying to help a very dear friend of mine, and she has been on treatment for about a year with no or little improvement.

We are willing to drive as far as we need to for help.

I just need a doctor that can really help her. She has lyme and many of the co-infections. We really need help as she is fading fast.

AngieGigi - Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for OH, IN & MO.

I would recommend you write a new post instead of adding on to an existing one (title it "Looking for LLMD in KY"), because most don't re-read old posts. That way, more people will see it and respond.

Your dear friend needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. She needs to go where they are. I don't know of any in KY.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When your friend calls for an appointment, have her ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Have her check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/KentuckyLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for her (including Support Groups info):

www.lyme-aware.org/kentucky.html
www.kentuckyindianalymesupport.org

http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/Kentucky/

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Have her read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
