I like to have a glass of wine when i go out to dinner. I have not started treatment yet, but i was wondering if you have to give up alcohol all together?
I am not an alcoholic or anything. I have maybe one or two glasses a week. I guess it depends on which antibiotics your on.
So, whats the deal? I feel terrible all the time and its like cant i at least have a glass of wine with dinner (whenever i feel well enough to go out that is).
I have used the search function but couldnt find any posts about it.

so I don`t think you should not drink on med becouse this is some thing you can`t play with if you have Lyme.
If you want to get cure don`t mess with alcohol, it all depends on you.
I know that I want to after all this month tring to get a doc to beleive I have Lyme

I have searching the medical board and have found some more information about alcohol and ABX.
What i have been reading that has REALLY freaked me out is the low carb diet.
All i eat are carbs. Pasta, BREAD, rice, potatoes you name it. Im a vegetarian and my diet is limited anyway.
So, i guess i do some more research. How many of you follow a special diet?
Thanks,
JB

I am on the low carb diet, and that includes no alcohol. Some people are on diets to help with lyme symptoms. Others, like me, are on the diet to prevent yeast overgrowth.
I had yeast problems years ago when I was on 2 months of abx. So I'm not taking any chances now.
I was actually a vegetarian for 14 years, and had to start eating meat for the diet. I personally felt I could not follow the diet in a healthy way as a vegetarian, but others do.
I have noticed a big difference in my muscle strength and skin. I don't think it's one thing, but a combination of increased protein, animal protein, lots of raw food, less processed food, lack of sugar and being on thryoid meds.
Once I started abx, I stopped totally. Alcohol is a huge yeast contributor, so that went out of my diet. I try to watch carbs because I'm a real carb junkie too. I'm not as disciplined as many here, but I do restrict myself.
I understand that the meds I'm taking now, if you drink while taking it, they act like antibuse and make you very very sick. Being somewhat contrary, I decided to test it out. I had a sip of a beer my husband was drinking one night - nausea and sweats!!!!And that was with just a sip!!!
Stay off the 'juice' - your body will thank you!
