If you think about those around you, do you recognize other chronic disorders, not necessarily the same as yours, in people around you?
This is important, because I am thinking of the family members of those vets from the first Gulf war, who came back with chronic health symptoms.
It has been recorded that some of the people close to them have come down with similar symptoms---just wondering out loud about this stuff.

Gulf War Syndrome could easily have a connection with TBD's.
You can do a search here on the topic. It's been discussed many times.

microw,
look for a post from DAISE, our female war veteran; perhaps she can give you guidance/advise! she's extremely knowledgeable!
if you don't see her name here in support; check ACTIVISM first then medical since medical fills up so fast on page 1; go to other screens looking for her name ok! good luck.
i feel the answer is yes! i've watched cspan talking about gulf war syndrome, but do NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING SAID ABOUT SPOUSES/SIGNIFICANT OTHERS! Posted by HaplyCarlessdave (Member # 413) on :

Here's a theory-- I've seen some talk of the possibility that one of the factors in the "rising green tide" may have been biological warfare experiments that took place on a certain island off Massachusetts, where lyme disease and the tick vector were being investigated for possible biological warfare use. Maybe the experiment produced a weapon that was actually used, that is developed from some super-pernicious strain of lyme. I'm not claiming any hard evidence here-- it's just that such questions as have been asked above do beg mention of this... DaveS

That is interesting since the state of Massatuchusetts public health department has been reporting an incredible rise in CONFIRMED Lyme disease cases. This is something that needs a closer look for sure.

Well, sometimes my parent's refusal to acknowledge
the realities of my situation really makes me
wonder if they perhaps do have a neurological infection.

Thanks for the reply, I am reluctant to even lable this disease as vector-borne anymore. Although the bacteria is best transfered through blood, I think there is an infective "stage" were the cysts can make it out in bodily fluids. Just an opinion, because the symptoms of LYME seem to find many definitions these days. microw

I'm really surprised nobody has mentioned mycoplasmas on this thread. The US Army holds a patent for the gene sequence of a certain mycoplasma...the implication being that this is a man made organism designed and built by the US Army. It is extremely contagious. Something like 80% of people in the military (and their families) are infected with it. Symptoms are mild, so most don't know they have it, and to be honest it would almost be a waste of time to try to get rid of it as you would just be reinfected. It has also been implicated as a contributing factor in Gulf War Syndrome.
