I got into medical school! Now I can be one of those rare "compassionate doctors" who actually Listen to what their patients are telling them.
Me = 1 Spirochetes = 0

Congratulations. I wish you the very best. Even one more potential doctor is a step in the right direction. Most importantly. PLEASE let us know what really happens behind closed doors. Posted by Parisa (Member # 10526) on :

Absolutely fantastic.
Are you comfortable telling us where ?
I assume you'll begin next June or August ?
Best of luck, where ever, whenever. Start thinking of quick healthy snacks and meals now to stay strong. Make friends with massage students, eh?

Congratulations Jen!
That is an awesome accomplishment.
It should be a fascinating experience, the education and training.
Best wishes, take good care of your health, and keep writing! Perhaps you can keep a journal about what it is like (blog?) to be in medical school.

Wow, Jen!! That is totally awesome.
That's even hard for a healthy person to do. I'm so proud of you!!!! Posted by johnnylight (Member # 18518) on :
Congrats!, I am praying for the day that Lyme Disease will be a specialty like cardiology and only Lyme Literates will be able to help you. A regular doc has no business treating a Lyme patient when it is a very complicated Disease that requires expertise and proper training. I know you will be a great LLMD mine is awesome too she knows we are very sick and she needs no convincing of that.
God speed and Good luck!
Johnny

Congratulations !!!
Please treat everyone with sincere compassion and a great understanding.
Try to educate ALL the doctors around you and every medical student about this horrible disease.
Now lets find a Cure...

Congratulations. Just beware, you know how those ketes can be when you try to smack them around. They are mean, mean, mean SOBs.

Congratulations!! Its a great accomplishment for anyone, but especially someone who has been so sick. Way to go. You are a wonderful inspiration for many people. My son is 12 and has been saying he wants to be a reconstructive surgeon for years hopefully he can follow your footsteps and make it despite the Lyme. congrats again!

Thanks guys!!!!!!!
I'm planning on asking the school if i can bring in someone from Turn The Corner's physician training program.
this way, they will know the thruth about lyme, preventing them from saying in the future "Lyme doesn't do this ... you don't have lyme..."
I'm also hoping to get a few reps from the National Organization for Rare Disorders to speak with my colleagues.
After watching so many 'Mystery Diagnosis' shows as well as going through my own 15 years of doctor nonsense,
I want my colleagues to be trained that patients do not follow the text book,
I still have a few more interviews, so when all is final, I'll let ya know where i'll be.
I will be sure to keep everyone updated throughout my schooling
Thanks to everyone for your support. This site has helped me greatly.
Trust that I will do everything in my power to spread the truth to other med students!!
talk to you soon!!!!

Awesome Jen! So happy for you! I was Biology/pre-med major in college, til Lyme struck again (not knowing it was Lyme). My brain started to go and the panic attacks came, so I would up switching over to nursing and became an RN. I have a dream of beating this thing once and for all (instead of relapsing all the time) and going back to Med school.
Who knows, it could happen!
Keep us posted with everything!
