Going out on a limb but just wondering if anyone has any Zhang herb leftovers, in particular allicin and houttuynia? I was doing great on these, which is a first for an herbal product, but the prices are outrageously expensive, such as $47 for the allicin alone for a 10 DAY SUPPLY, plus $10 shipping and no way to get free shipping. I used these two on and off for about 1.5 months. I know for myself I have literally had hundreds of supplement bottles in my drawers (and Rx for that matter) that I tried and didn't like and just sit around unused. Things work for some and not for others. I would be happy to pay you something for it and shipping, just hopefully not $100 Open bottles are fine.

I have a pound bag of houtynnia, it is Plume Flower brand... Are you looking for the Zhang brand especially? It only cost me about $25 I think.

I have old bags with houttunya. I don't think they are good still....
Much better to buy directly at Chinese online shops. I used to buy mine at 1stchinese back then...
very inexpensive.
As for allicin, I used to take dr K's freeze garlic, very potent indeed.
Later I did my own kimchi at home, that's got loads of allicin and fermented garlic inside.
I think kimchi is even better than freeze garlic pills. You may get wild reactions with home made kimchi.
Since I started doing and eating kimchi, I never bought any garlic supplement anymore. It is very potent.
the cost is ridiculous. It's just a bit of work for you, about 3 hour work in one month!

I have tried "bulk" Chinese herbs. They didn't have the same effect as Zhang's brand. I can tell (by the smell alone) his pills are highly potent/concentrated... you just go broke on his program very fast. :/

Oh...
I followed Buhner's suggestions on Chinese shops.
Only with one finger size of Japanese knotweed boiled in water, was too strong for me...
I could take that amount daily for 50 years, and I would still have my bag of Jap knotweed home....
Maybe the pills are fresher?
Dr K is now recommending that people do very low dose of herbs instead of high dose.
Which could mean, that treatment works better in low dose / less strength ?
For me, that was ALWAYS the case. WEak was better.

That's how it is for me too interestingly enough...less is often more. I think that our current society's mentality of "more is more" has translated into our dosing of time-honored herbs, but for the worse. The whole "industrial size" / "super-size" / "50% more" / "XL" advertising makes us want to take as high a dosage as possible. But when you think about how native people used herbs... they didn't find 50 lbs of a plant to "concentrate" into a 500:1 extract. They probably took much smaller dosages as tea or crushed up dry form.

- It depends on if a substance is for support - or for direct action against an infectious microbe. If too little of an antimicrobial is taken, that can create super bugs that are harder to treat as they become resistant to the medication, whatever form it may be.
Herbs seem to be more complex and therefore "harder" for infectious agents to figure out still, if the dose is too low, it's not going to be effective.
But, then, that is also why whether Rx or antimicrobial herbal combination approaches and rotations are required as well.
In addition - each separate infection needs specific approaches.
With lyme all phases / forms require specific attention and that is never with just an antibiotic approach. The cystic form requires different chemistry . . . and, of course biofilm has to be addressed (yet many herbs also contain something to help with that).
Some herbs also may cover several bases, so to speak, against bacteria, viruses and protozoa (such as babesia). Still, combination and rotation matters.
Be aware that herbs have different strengths depending upon their form. Raw herbs, even if sifted or powdered are less strong than extracts whether powder / capsule or tincture form.
About amounts, see Stephen Buhner's writings for better explanation as to why high amounts are sometimes needed for penetration, etc.
Zhang also advises a higher amount of allicin for those who weigh more than average. Hepapro's product is very condensed, too, and a different form, allitrudi (sp?). It was by far the best I've ever used. I'd rather have one bottle of that than ten of any other brand.
Hepapro used to offer a discount for low income. You might see if this still applies.

- Piggy back to previous post. Still, many of us have only so much we can afford and we just do the best we can.
If all one can afford is one or two cloves of organic raw garlic a day, when, then, that's all they can afford. It can do some good (IF, if - the person's stomach lining can handle it. Some cannot so then other methods would need to be considered within budget).
A rife machine might also be considered if the initial cost could be managed. Still, supportive methods are required but that can also come from good, very specific, foods to help the liver, etc..

Hi Keebler,
Thanks for the great info. I'm pm-ing you

moss,
I got your PM but could not read any of it due to the spacing. I also just don't have the energy to take on the responsibility of being the only person to answer someone's questions.
I'm sorry to delay answers to your questions as you obviously took a great deal of time with the note.
Many here have nystagmas or other eye difficulties. It can be impossible to separate out words from large blocks of text. It all becomes sea of swirling grey chunks, at least to my eyes.
You will get more input from everyone if you can copy & paste your note to me into your computer desktop in a work / word page, add spacing and then repost here or in a new thread for everyone to be able to read.
Or copy & paste it to a new message box and do the spacing editing there. Once posted, if the paragraphs are too tight, just use the editing icon to go back and add in more space breaks.
Paragraphs of no more than 3 or 4 finished lines are best. And a new paragraph for each new thought or question.
Our eyes and our brains really need that "breathing room for the eyes". I hope this helps you get various replies and some answers.
When I see your post, if I have the energy I will reply. Normally, my PM function is off. I had forgotten it was on after I checked a stored message.
It's off again, so please do not take that personally.
Sorry. I just don't have energy to engage to long letters. My brain just can't work on demand. I never know when I'll be able to write and then it's all rather hit or miss and my fingertips gone on strike. That's why I mostly post links, to shine light on good places to find out more.
While my eyes have no way of knowing what is in that note, there may be some answers here:

- moss,
I hope you've seen this and been able to find some options in the links set or other avenues. Even if a full approach is not accessible, be sure to cover the basics. -
