I don't have any medical references right in front of me, but in my opinion the answer is yes.

A brain lesion could simply be due to inflammation and not the result of scar tissue.

I do know that one of hubby's former neuro's who was previously a brain surgeon before he changed the focus of his practice (now doing FDA trials of glutathione for Parkinson's patients) told us that he had had patients who had had brain lesions go away with nutritional therapy and possibly HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) as well -- don't know the exact circumstances.

There are many things which can cause brain lesions including MS, Lyme and celiac disease.

I had an MRI of the brain ten years ago, and it showed six "unidentified bright spots."

From what I understand, this is "scarring" or damage, possibley from TIA's (transient ischemic attacks, or small strokes).
If they are present in a particular spot in the brain, they are taken as evidence of Multiple Sclerosis.

One year ago I had another MRI of the brain. This showed ONE unidentified bright spot.

We couldn't get the previous films to compare. My doc suggested that the others resolved due to antibiotics, but I hadn't been on antibiotics, except for the Saventaro (cat's claw).

Has your MRI shown evidence of lesions?
Carol

I had 3 MRIs done 10/02,6/03 & 12/03 and all had one lesion. I was on oral abx from 8/03-12/04 but only got worse and stopped. MRI I just had done in 7/05 had no lesions. Could it have just gone away or did abx work even though I got worse??

Hi Marie.

I have 11 lesions on MRI, mostly in frontal lobe area (Lyme-indicative rather than MS). Largest is 5 mm.

Most of the research I have read seems to indicate that they may diminish or maybe even go away with antibiotic treatment.

However, "may" is the keyword...one study I read suggested that about 50% of the time they resolve. Wish I had bookmarked it...

My MRI was in March of 2005 and I am now in my third month of treatment. So maybe next March we will have another look-see.

Good luck to you.

Michelle
