I appreciate any feedback from those of you knowledgeable about this disease. I lived in NJ for three years about 5 years ago--a high Lyme Disease area, lots of woods, overpopulation of deer, and ticks. Don't remember a bite but did have a dog and certainly saw plenty of ticks. While living there, I started having migraines and also developed a noticeable eyelid droop on one side. Dr. dx me with common migraine and gave me an rx.

Fast-forward to a month ago--I suddenly became achy, nauseated, and weak one night. Thought I had a stomach virus, but never threw up. A few days later I developed a "pins/needles" sensation in my right arm and felt extremely fatigued, then had intense, constant nausea for several days (never vomited). Over the last four weeks I have seen 3 drs regarding the following symptoms that come and go: tender breasts, tender underarm nodes, dizziness/vertigo (sometimes severe), lower backache, constant indigestion/no desire to eat, stiff neck, headache that seems to come from the back of the head, all-over backache, lethargy, sleeping 12+ hours per night. These are all completely new symptoms for me, and tests have turned up nothing so far--except that my cholesterol is suddenly high, and it never has been before! I finally went to a neurologist and am having MRA, MRA, and neck MRI tomorrow.

When I look up these symptoms online, the only thing that comes up consistent with all those things is Lyme. But is that even possible? And could it start this suddenly? I am turning into someone I hardly recognize and am desparate for answers. Any thoughts or suggestions for Lyme doctors would be terrific--I can easily go to a dr. in AL, TN, NY, NJ, or VA.

"Lyme" can cause a myriad of symptoms including yours i would guess. what i've done is taken oil of oregano and a quality silver supplement. Both have proven antimicrobial properties. Drink lots of water and eat well with supplements.(selinium is important) If you start to get herxes (flu like sickness) you're probably on the right track as something in your system is being killed off. Keep it up, it's a slow progress to getting your health back. As for docs shop around and become literate yourself.
best of luck

Jaycie, you have many of the symptoms of lyme. The fatigue, stiff neck, tingling, lower back pain, etc., literally screams lyme.

In the "Seeking a doctor" section of the forum you could post a request for a lyme knowledgeable doc and someone will private message you contact info. We don't use doctor's names on the board, only in private.

It's very possible that you were bitten in NJ, it layed dormant for a while and now is rearing it's ugly head. Happens all the time and you'll need a knowledgeable doc to treat it. Your local GP will be clueless so you'll need to find a speciality doc or an LLLMD.

You really do need to find a Lyme dr who can do an accurate diagnosis. Did any of your other dr's even consider that Lyme could be a possibility for you?

Get the proper testing done and see a proper health care professional before diagnosing yourself and taking supplements/medications that you may actually not even need.

Welcome Jaycie to this valuable 24/7 educational and support group board.

I'm going to break up your longer paragraphs for neuro lymies like me who can't read/comrehend as is. We need 6-8 lines of text & DOUBLE space between them....thanks!

Jaycie, I'm going to cut/paste some info here. Please read about the 3 places for our blood to be sent to for western blot igm/igg testing ok!

Welcome to this 24/7 LYME support group board!

Here's TREEPATROL's and tincup's combination newbie links.
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/029917.html

Print off the links then check them off as you read as you could spend several months reading all of this.

print & read Dr. Barrascono's 2005 info first; you will come back to this often.

Also, see Cheryl's extensive web sites on: LD DIAGNOSIS, SYMPTOMS, & TREATMENT ... wonderful! Read the area on CO-INFECTIONS! You could have from 1-12 other illnesses that tick is carrying...lyme, malaria, etc.

If you are showing symptoms of co-infections, I would like to suggest being tested for co-infections when you have LYME western blots done. It isn't cheap!! But if you are positive, you can treat the co-infections first, and then work on LYME symptoms.

http://www.lymeinfo.net/lymediseasetreatment.html

TESTING FOR LYME DISEASE ... 3 main LYME TICK BORNE LABS IN USA!

The WESTERN BLOT IGM & IGG blood test nos. 189 and 188, are the only accurate tests for LD. They should only be sent to these 3 USA's Lyme testing labs:

IGENEX LAB:
797 San Antonio Road
Palo Alto, CA 94303
1.800.832.3200.

(If the early test, called IGM, is negative; the later test IGG is NOT done!)
Please see their web site:
www.igenex.com CALL for their current prices effective OCT. , 2005 and

to print their REQUIRED form, which MUST be signed by the doctor, DIAGNOSIS CODE NO. COMPLETED!; Medicare's UPIN no., and your blood taken EARLY in the week so it doesn't sit in post offices! Example, have it taken Mon. - Wed. Afternoon tests show more positive lyme results!

Here is the site to PRINT THEIR REQUIRED FORM to send with blood sample. For me, I printed the FIRST option available on the forms.

http://www.igenex.com/formset2.htm

Write on their forms you want results FAXED to their drs. Office; snail mail paper copy so it's not lost like mine was!

NON-Medicare patients must PREPAY by check or credit card for the tests since they do NOT handle insurance papers.
Medicare patients do NOT have to prepay!

2. MDLabs from NJ, www.mdl.net
see their site; they too require their own form. NO prices are listed; you must call their 800 no.

3. BOWEN labs from Florida, www.bowen.net 727.937.9077
You pay $250 tax-deductible payment for testing, and they send you a picture of what shows up in your blood. You also get the results within 24 hours after the blood is received at Bowen. They are also a 501(c)(3) lab and you can take the donation of $250 off of your taxes if you live in the US. They fax the results and then about a week later send the actual pictures.
Lyme should be diagnosed clinically using medical history in addition with the Western Blot blood tests as no currently available test is definitive in ruling-in or ruling-out infection with Ld pathogens, or whether these infections are responsible for the patient's symptoms.

NOTE: Please send a copy of your health insurance card to YOUR insurance comany (mine is Wellmark BC/BS, Iowa) for them to submit to BLUE CARD (handles other states) them to FORWARD to California's Blue Shield health insurance company since they will require that, DRS. Diagnosis Code No., and which date of service is correct (IGX has 3 different dates on their paid receipts....use the DATE OF ACTIVITY!).

FYI - mine was returned to me after 6 wks. After submitting; dr./blood lab failed to show DRS. DIAGNOSIS CODE NO. on their form! It went to 7 people to be returned to me! Disgusting!

Hi Jaycie

You sound like you sure could have Lyme
and or co-infections--

Lyme and the co-infections
are not diagnosed by tests--
Only Symptoms--
tests are Only used to conferm--

This is because the tests are
so Poor that doctors have no
other choice----

I was tested for Lyme and Babs--
and the tests came back negitive--

There is Zero doubt that I have lyme
and babs--
20 yrs ago I had a picture perfict
Lyme bullseye bruse on my leg--

I became Very sick in 2 weeks or so--
and had been sick for 18 years--

Dont let this happen to you --

From what you write I gather
you have only had symptoms for
a month or so--

If you get proper help
you can get over this stuff--
If you waste time you are Doomed to
be here on Lymenet for years---

Higher doses of antibotics(ABX) are
required to Kill these germs--

500 to 600mg aday of Doxicycline is what
is needed--

Not the 200mg of doxicycline(doxi)
that the doc is Going to offer you--

This amount will kill many types of germs
Not LYME--Lyme is a Super germ --
and it will Ruin your Life --

Read DR B --symptoms list on
the newbee page-- its written
in easier to understand language--

Print it out if you can--30 pages--

Good Luck to You --Jay---
