I am new to site and new to lyme. I have enjoyed lurking and knowing that I am not alone. I look forward to posting and sharing from all of you. This is very scary to me. I am in my third week of treatment and feel way worse than before I knew. Oh well, sounds like the norm.

Hi,
Welcome.

Sorry you are feeling bad, but it is nice to know that the antibiotics are getting to the bacteria.

How long have you had lyme? What treatment are you currently on?

Well Hello! Thanks for introducing yourself. I am impressed that you waited three weeks to post. I remember being so completely freaked out when I was first diagnosed, for the second time, if that makes sense, I posted right away- and haven't stopped !

But at least I am not as freaked out-still freaky-but not freaked out.

And I live right down the road from you-we're practically neighbors-

And just to give you something to look forward to I would like to invite you to my surprise birthday party on lymenet which will be happening sometime soon ! [Smile]

Welcome Avon..Interesting name you have..This site is definitely a life saver..Just be patient with getting all of the answers immediately..

I'm just across the river from you..

Well, not sure that is even possible..But with researching and asking questions, you should receive a lot of good support.

There is also a search feature at the top of Medical and General Support..You can get access to many old posts that way. Click on it and put a topic in the form..

Also be prepared for lyme rages..Even some of the best here have bad days..And they may not mean to scare you..They are all good down deep..And will help..Especially do not let Don or Carol scare you..They are harmless...

And I know when the party is Don and you can come..lymemomtooo

Thanks so much for the welcome and thoughts. I waited a few weeks, because I usually check out the site and the content to see if I like it or not. That did not mean that I have not looked at everything I could click on, to educate myself on this crappy thing.....Someone had asked what treatment I am on. I am on my 4th week of doxy. I have an appointment to have an echocardiagram done and my family doc suggests that I see an infectious disease doc. My opinion of this whole thing is that I have had Lyme in the past and it went undiagnosed. This time it was only a few weeks since exposure and I tested postive.?? Sounds like that is not the norm, to test positive so soon?? I am learning a lot..... Thanks again for replying

Actually, its more common to test positive after a recent exposure. People with later term Lyme create less antibodies.

But it's always good to have that positive test of proof of infection.

I would recommend posting in the seeking doctor forum for an LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor). If you think you've had lyme for a while and were just reinfected, then you need a doctor who really understands and has experience with Lyme.

As you may have read here, a lot of infectious disease doctors don't treat Lyme aggressively enough.

Please Avon realtor,
What a combination of two names!! I remeber those Avon perfumes my mom and grandmother used to use oh so many years ago.

And Realtor, special memeories abound here too!!

What I posted to say IS if you possiblely can,,,"STAY AWAY" from the quack, quack duckies in infectous disease suits. THAT can only lead you to more trouble than YOU even want to think about!!! He is going to say you DONT have LYME!!! Doctors of all kinds write things down in their files. Insurance and everybody else that shouldnt, review the doctors files. Him saying that could lead you to treatment denial or at least a reduction in approved treatment payments,,,which ten LLMD's cant undo!!!

Get a real strong case of de-NILE and swim, float, paddle, fly, or RUN to a GOOD LLMD and get treated and be done with it!!! No denails, no further unneeded problems, just herx, learn, treat, learn some more,, and treat whats wrong and sing a NEW song of joy when you turn the last corner of this terrible affliction!!! But to turn the last one, you must start with a single step towards the FIRST corner, getting the 'right' treatment by the 'right' LLMD!!!

Get crackin on it, times a wastin!!!!!!!!!!!And dis the infectous duck!!Mostly cause I am still--just don--

Just Don, Thanks for the advise. It seems to be a common theme amoung those posting at this site. I did post and ask for a suggestions of docs in my area. I am not one to sit back and not take charge of my own care. My daughter has had 4 open heart surgeries and though my experience with her, I have learned a lot. the only reason I have a confirmation of lyme today, is bacause, I went for blood work and then got the order for the lyme test. When I went to the family doc, he really did not think I was going to have a positive test. He called me on a Sat. morning to get started on the meds. I think that he suggested the ID just to get me off his back..... Thanks again, I will proceed with caution. OH, I am just having an echo. No cardiologist will get involved unless there is some damage or concern, and believe me, I will take charge of the choice of that doc.
