Hoping someone here can offer some info on interpreting MDL results-my LLMD only gave me some basic info-then retired..not sure how to proceed.
After much ado, I received a copy of a copy of my Western Blot (done in Sept.) Of course most of it is too faint to read (and they tried to charge me for this privilege!)
I can clearly see the IgG band 41 which he said I was positive for, but there are also 2 darkened triangles on bands 34 & 31 in the upper left hand corner (thanks to Kennedy for helping me decipher the actual band #'s ) Are these how they indicate an equivocal status??? LLMD did not mention it-and I understand they are Lyme specific.
I would appreciate anyone who is familar with this lab offering their "informed" opinion!! Maybe one of you have reviewed something like this with your own LLMD? I have sent a notarized request to MDL for a better copy-but the waiting is more than I can take!
Thanks-Sue

Susiecv,
If you have mdl's 800 number or are in contact somehow with them...
Have their customer service reps interpret the triangles for you.
Also somewhere on the report it should say whether you are positive or not.
Make sure you tell customer service that you already HAVE a copy of your results but it's a poor copy and give them the specimen number and date and doctors name and yours...
If you fail with the CS rep then speak to supv...if no success then the branch manager it no help their speak to doctor on duty or regional manager and then district ans so on...

zman-I have called MDL & they are NOT allowed to interpret anything for anybody (maybe MD's?) They wouldn't even tell me the band #'s heading the chart of actual results-let alone MY info! Tried to unassumingly mention that the triangles must show equivocal results hoping for a reaction one way or another...while they were pleasant-no clue given...
and nimsovich-the values are also illegible I will repost when I get my new & improved copy-maybe it'll make more sense then-
I had to mail them a notarized form to get a clean copy for my personal use-and this was after consulting a supervisor. Thanks- Sue

Thanks Nim (may I call you that? ) Are you thinking that with an LLMD's input or on your own as I am? Just wondering??? Sue

Thanks again, Nim. The LLMD I originally consulted with told me 41 on IgG was positive & I didn't have "two band Lyme" but looks like he may have neglected to point out the close-enough bands which may have significance-
Realize the tests are meaningless to a degree in light of rash & symptoms...but guess I have enough duck conditioning in me to still want to see proof on paper-
Hmmmm..guess I just have to keep waiting to get a better take on it. Sue

I'd be interested to learn if you hear anything. I just got some WB results back from MDL for my hubby. IgG bands 41 and 39 are positive, with band intensity being 100 for band 41 and 147 for band 39. Bands 60 and 28 both are 033 in intensity...so they did not make the cut-off for being positive (cutoff is 90%). Bands 31 and 23 have the triangle that you mention.
We will be talking to my LLMD about this in January. I can post back then as to what he says....but would love to know more beforehand if others know what the "triangles" mean.

No intensities were noted. Just the triangles.

PLEASE let me know what your LLMD says about it-I would really like a professional opinion-too late for me to inquire from my retired LLMD-feel like he should have told me , but I didn't have a copy to view during last phone consult. Sue
