okay so this is werid right...I have numbness and tingling in my hands and feet but not all the time.
I noticed that my hands looked kinda dirty like last weeks and I work in an office and files papers and faxes etc so I figured I just needed to wash my hands more.
I didn't really pay too much attention to it, cause I've been pretty busy and just washing my hands A LOT.
Today I was so disgusted with my hands that I was too embarrassed to get a manicure so I did it myself. I could not figure out why the heck my hands looked so freakin dirty almost blue-like.
Tonight I was babysitting and looked down and my fingers were BLUE-ish gray. That's what I had been seeing. My hands weren't dirty, my fingers and fingertips are BLUE!
So the question is why? What is this? I have no pain, no numbness, no tingling-aside from the norm stuff...I showed my mom and she said they look how one looks when they come out of sugery-kinda grayish blue.
so do i go to the ER? I called my nurse-she is very perplexed...my doctor's office doesn't have an after hours number.

If any part of your body turns a different color i think you should get medicle care as soon as possible.

I definitely have a lot of pain and tingling in my hands and feet too, but only rarely have just my fingertips turned blue. I usually just notice it in my fingernails.
Somewhere in the foggy recesses of my lyme brain the term "Reynaud's Phenomenon" has surfaced. Could it be this? I know it has something to do with circulation and I know we learned all about it in the "fibromyalgia" seminar I went to. I hope you feel better!

I would definetely get medical attenion dr/er asap.
Blue isnt good.
I think with lips it can indicate oxygen issues... perhaps the same with fingers.

Definately seek medical attention! That is not normal!
It could be circulation problem, or lack of oxygen (as AZURE said) Maybe a blood clot interferring with blood flow. I don't I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like you need one ASAP!

It might be hypercoagulation. A condition where the blood thickens due to an accumulation of fibrin. The blood can then have a difficult time coming out of the extremeties. It may be happening in your feet as well, mine would often look black.
Another thing that can be a problem for us is dysautonomia. Many of us have some degree of this and it can cause a whole host of problems that I don't think most of us see as connected unless you knew it could be.
Having blood pool in the hands and feet is something that happens in dysautonomia. Numbness and tingling can also happen. This all has to do with the autonomic nervous system.
So there are lots of really odd things that happen with this illness, and these are 2 possibilities to consider. I have recently posted on dysautonomia and I have postd info about hypercoagulation before too.
Good news is that after treatment, my hands and feet are now pink. No more blood poolong and no more numbness and tingling either,

I saw my LLMD. She has no idea what is going on with me and really didn't give me an sign of what I should do.
The tops only and tips are blueish grey, not my toes. They are also normal temperature. She doesn't think it's circulations. She suggested maybe a werid allergic reaction to something, but offered me nothing.
She said if it gets worse to go to the ER and she increased my hydration to 2 liters per day.
My fingers now change from normal to blueish grey.
Can Ryemoids (or however you spell it) syndrom make your fingers do this?
I also called my surgeon who put my port in to see what he thinks.

What about vasculitis? This happens to many people with Lyme.
I am not sure of all of the information in regards to vasculitis but I would research it.
I hope you figure it out soon.
As well, toner that is in the ink of copies is toxic in some degrees like it sounds like you suspected...

Acrocyanosis is a persistent blue or cyanotic discoloration of the fingers. It occurs most commonly in the hands and may worsen with exposure to cold and improve with rewarming.
Just an idea.

both my surgeon who put the port in my chest and my llmd both said it's nothing to stress over..however, I would still like to know what this is, why i have it, and why doing saline infusions helps.

My daughter has a heart valve thing and I am supposed to call her doctor if she turns blue anywhere!!!!!!!!!!
Could be from Reynauds!!! I had that with Lyme!!! But that is subtly different from you are describing I think-
I am surprised they haven't found out/defined it more!!!!
DO go to the ER if it gets worse.

I don't know if my fingers are 'blue', but they're certainly grey/ dark/ dark purple. My toes too. My toes, from continuous fungal infections, it's been like this for more than a decade. When funghi die, the skin becomes dark/ purple/ black, whatever...
My hands are dark for a few weeks. I suspect bartonella, as I got rashes there too and other bart symptom.
When I apply cilantro tincture, the color gets almost immediately clear (am I imagining things?). Not totally, but quite.
So I wonder, could your fingers have bart symptoms? Or funghi?

I think Raynauds/vasculitis are good possibilities, and fairly common with lyme, etc. If your docs have ruled out other things, then maybe this is your explanation. Several others gave good guesses, like hypercoagulation, autonomic nervous system malfunction. Unless you are in need of treatment for the hypercoagulation, which some people do need, then there is really nothing to do except wait for improvement with your TBD treatment. The number of weird things that can be caused by lyme and its buddies is large.
