Yeah, I've noticed the same thing too. I'm sick frequently from Lyme but don't get 'sick' (i.e. new symptoms) from any other illnesses. I just thought that maybe I feel so awful all the time anyway that it probably would just mask something else but I'm not so sure that is true.

I've noticed the same thing. I never understood it since my immune system is supposedly bad, plus the fact that I have a low white blood cell count... you'd think I'd have tons of colds. But nope. Of course I'm not complaining either. LOL. :-)

I went years without the yearly round of colds, sinus infections. I couldn't tell if I had the flu because I had flu-like sx for 6 years due to TBDs.
About a year ago I started seeing cold sx after being around the two grandsons. I take that to be a good thing, since I've done some pretty good recovering in the last couple years.

I used to get everything that went around pre lyme. Haven't had a cold in over 10 years now.

Same here. Though I would rather take 10 flus a year than this rotten disease...

yep, me too. The first year though with LD I would get everything that came down the block...
since then though, I don't get colds or the flu very often. TBI's make me miserable enough
Have also read alot of interesting articles on this but my lyme brain can't remember where I read this.
Something like our immune systems spinning out of control like a tire.
The parts that are on high alert keep us from getting colds ect...the other parts of our immune system are damaged by our TBI's allow for the LD & co-infections to prosper. I know this is a lame interpretation...
maybe someone with better gray matter will come along & put up a link

Durng the period of time my body temperature was low, my body pH was low (toxic) and, thus, my metabolism was slow (slowing down detoxing), I noticed colds were common. I got my body temp up with armour thyroid and that got my metabolism up which got my body detoxing naturally and that caused my body pH to increase into the normal range of 6.5 to 7.5 for the first time in years. Colds are now rare and meds now usually work where they often didn't before due to low metabolism (little "works" when your metabolism is low).
What do you need? A good quality glass thermometer, a prescription for armour thyroid (assuming you can tolerate both thyroid T3 and T4) and a $10 box of qty 80 pH Stix from Alkalive. Took me two months to get straightened out.
Some otherwise very healthy people still test their body pH regularly. If pH starts to drop, it is an early warning of your immune system seeing something bad coming on. They get extra rest, drink extra juice, vitamin C, etc. and avoid or lessen the cold that could have been nasty. See www.wilsonssyndrome.com for more info. Test either urine or saliva. Just don't do it in the morning. Test both body temp and pH about one hour after dinner. Even an average of 98.0 can be a problem. Increasing to 98.6 can improve your feeling of wellness.

The last time I got a cold was many years ago. It's weird, but since I was diagnosed with "epstein barr" in 1988, which I later found out was my lyme, I rarely get sick. Never knew why, but lyme wasn't really heard of in 1988 especially living in the Bronx, NY. Wish it was - wouldn't be as chronic as it is now.
