I am reading his book, HEALING LYME and it sounds very convincing.

For those of you on the core protocol, it reads that it can be done with antibiotics. Yes?

My questions are:

A. Where do you buy the three herbs mentioned? He mentions Source Naturals and one other company.

B. How slowly did you ramp up?

C. Are you also on abx concurrently?

D. Any side effects/herx from the herbs?

E. How long have you been on the Buhner protocol and are you seeing progress?

Thanks!

I have been on the Buhner protocol for a month and a half. I have been taking the core herbs andrographis, smilax, resveratrol, and cat's claw. 3 times a day, 4 capsules of each herb each time.

I got to this dose pretty quickly- about a week and have kept at that level.

I have been taking it along with doxy. My LLMD said it's ok to do it with antibiotic treatment. I did not see much of a difference yet that I can attribute to the herbs. No perceptable herx- not even from the antibiotic since I started. But I can't say I've gotten significantly worse in symtoms either so who knows. I will be going on babs treatment soon too.

The cheapest place to get these herbs is vitacost.com- it has most of the ones you will need. -Despin

Cats Claw
May have an additive or synergistic hypotensive effect with Antihypertensives. May have an additive anticoagulant effect with Anticoagulants / Antiplatelets. In-vitro, cat's claw inhibits CYP3A4, may increase the serum levels of drugs such as protease inhibitors, nonnucleoside reverse- transcriptase inhibitors, cyclosporine, some benzodiazepines, and others.

I am finding using the herbs Buhner recommends combined with Rosner's approach http://www.defeatlyme.com and http://www.lymebook.com has helped me the most.

However I cannot say which has helped more than the others as I started lots of treatments at the same time. But who cares right; I am getting better!

I'm reading the book myself, but haven't yet gotten past the first part describing Lyme.

There is a pretty active group on Yahoo Groups dedicated to this protocol - [email protected].

Patience Myco, patience.

Many of us that have gotten better do NOT get here nearly as often as we used to. We have a lot of other things to do these days.

I have been on Buhner's Protocols for about 23 months now. I was near death back in 2005, and now feel I am at about 90% of where I could be.

I am 66 years old now, and so we have to realize that my body is naturally going downhill faster than those of you young-un's in your 20's or 30's, who should have more energy, etc..

But I can work 6 to 8 hour days again without too much trouble.

I have gone FAR BEYOND the "Core" protocol though. THAT is a good start, but only a start. He mentions FAR MORE than just three herbs. As a matter of fact I do not consider the first three my most important herbs. More helpful to me are Sarsaparilla, Red Root tincture, and especially Devil's Claw. I saw fantastic improvements in about a day with Devil's Claw. Especially in my vision problems.

I bought the herbs from many different online companies in the beginning, including VitaCost, MyVitaNet, Herbs-WHolesale, StarWest Botanicals, etc., etc.. However none of the companies had ALL the herbs I needed, so switched over to 1st Chinese Herbs out in Washington, as they handle just about everything. Especially when I went to herbs in BULK.

WHY did I go to herbs in bulk? To save about 75 to 80% over getting them readymade in capules. Plus they are more PURE!

When I started herbs on November 25, 2005; I was functioning at about 30 to 40%, and like I said NOW I am about 90%. During some parts of some days, maybe even 95%.

I took Tetracycline for 28 days, and Doxycyline for 24 days near the beginning of taking my herbs; but the abx totally killed my stomach, which was already in bad shape from too many years of ascorbic acid, so had to totally quit the abx. I felt no improvement anyway with the abx, but tremendous improvement with the herbs.

Red Root tincture, Sarsaparilla and Milk THistle all for cleansing and support are, I feel, the MOST IMPORTANT herbs of all, and should be taken from the beginning and faithfully. Be SURE to ramp up slowly, at least MOST of you need to.

ONE pill a DAY, for a week. Then TWO pills a day for a week, etc.. Till you can get up to YOUR maximum regimen. I eventually ramped up to about 93 pills a day, for over 5 months. Then gradually dropped down to about 50 pills a day, and have been on the total protocol for about 23 months now.

Be careful about adding in herbs that Buhner doesn't recommend. He knows what he is talking about. I added in some, like Coptis and got into big trouble. It is scarey. SLooooooooow is the keyword here. And careful is another.
