i have an appt with dr. s.f., my gastro, in the morning at 8:30. ugh, i have to fight that traffic all the way past dfw airport. but if i didn't take that appt, i would have to wait until the end of january, and i can't.
i am loosing weight, so far at 13 pounds. my stool in the morning is maroon colored red, then it just turns to mush throughout the day, usually 3-4 more bowel movements.
i am having a lot of pain from under my ribs to my pelvic bones,in fact, it feels like a burning sensation.
am nauseous and not really hungry. i can't lay on either side because of the pain.
if you press on one side of my abdominal cavity, the pain shoots across to the other side. man, it hurts.
i am running a slight fever, am now at 99 which is high for me, as i'm usually at 96. blood pressure is ok tho.
i'm thinking it might be 1. c. difficile, or 2, antibiotic induced colitis.
i'm imagining all kinds of things like having to have my colon taken out, being put in the hospital, scary things....
this is tough....
has anybody had c. difficile? my doctor's nurse said they would probably put me on flagl 500 at least 3 times a day.
boy, that sounds high to me. it will either kill or cure me, right?

I suspect food intolerances and chronic electromagnetic hypersensitivities. These EMFs are giving whatever bugs you have the upperhand. Do you live near a cell phone tower or transformer?

Please tell the doctor about the maroon colored stool. Any red in the stool suggests bleeding.

only use my cell phone a couple of times a week to call my mom long distance and then i'm on that puppy for at least a couple of hours. that's aboout it.

Having been intimately involved with c. diff , I've learned a few things along the way. If your first stool test comes back negative, request two more just to be sure. It takes three negative tests to be sure you don't have c. diff.
If it comes back positive, make sure they culture it to see what antibiotic it's sensitive to. My first bout, they hadn't tested its sensitivity and I did a round of flagyl that didn't work...oral vancomycin did the trick.
Since then, I've tried to be so careful to take a lot of probiotics and s. boulardii. I'm still nervous about it (it's easy for my mind to go down the same scary road as yours ), but I'm trying to be positive.
I hope tomorrow goes well for you...that you make the trip just fine and the doctor has good news for you. I'll be thinking of you.

Colitis,is sometimes misdiagnosed in alot of lyme patients. My suggestions,is your bowels are spasming, and food is moving right threw you. It has been found that bentol,or even bacoflen, will stop the spasms, and your bowels will work a little better. Ask the doctor about lyme associated spasms,in the bowels. Many barrium enema's have found this to be so.

Great idea 8man. Sometimes a 'cause' can't be found and it's great to know there's a med that will offer some relief.
Had a three week dysentery-type episode this summer unlike anything I've ever experienced before. All tests (c.diff, giardia, etc.) came back negative. LLMD said sometimes our intestines can go into 'hyper-motility mode'.
I'm okay now (knock on wood ) I hope you will be okay soon, too, randibear!!
