Has anyone done shots of Rocephin instead of IV? If so, what was the cost and how did it work?

I had the shots done at my doctor's office, so the nurses gave it to me. The Rocephin was the IM kind so the mix contains lidocaine. I did only 1gram a day, as I was doing a test run of the medication to check for a allergic reaction before starting IV. I was told if I was doing 2grams I would have to injected 1gram into two different spots (like 1gram in on bum cheek, then the other gram on the other side). Even with the lidocaine the shots hurt, but if the injection is done very slowly, it's not so bad. It just wasnt't something I wanted to do long term.
