I was told i had lyme back in 2000 and was treated on a 3 week cycle of doxy.
Then A year later i became sick with gi problems and was told i had ibs after all the test.
I had another doctor do a lyme test and it came back negative .
now i'm seeing a new doc because i've been feeling really tired and he said he would ike to do a lyme test .
my question is what tests should i have him do since the last time the regualr test came back negative is there other test out there that might have missed it?

REcommend you see a lyme-literate MD. Post in "seeking a doctor" for recommendations. Also google this article and read it "Bell's Palsy of the Gut." Good luck.

You probably have Lyme and possibly one or more "coinfections-- these diseases make Lyme much more resistant and require different drugs for treatment than lyme. You'd THINK by now "regular docs" would know about Lyme and other tick diseases, but too often that isn't the case! For testing, two labs I know of that are better for lyme testing are Igenex, in CA, and Bowen Labs, who used to be in Florida, but may have moved due to storm damage. All testing for lyme is not so great, though...

Hi crus,
You must be properly assessed by an LLMD (Lyme-literate MD) who is also an ILADS doctor.
When you were diagnosed with Lyme back in 2000 you were given only 3 weeks of doxycycline. That is never enough, even in early Lyme.
It ENSURES that you will develop chronic Lyme disease, unless there is intervention--and there has been no intervention, not until lately.
An LLMD will decide if testing is needed. You were already diagnosed years ago.
Go to the top of this page and click "forum home" and then click "Seeking A Doctor." Use your location to find an LLMD and one or more of us will jump in to try to help you.
Please stay away fom infectious disease doctors because they do not at all take Lyme disease seriously, but for a wee handful. One of those--or their foul Lyme treatment recommendation--is why you are at the illness you are, today.
Essential: Go to www.ilads.org to the left menu and click "Treatment Guidelines." Click that and print the ILADS Guidelines and also Dr. B's 33 pages of tips for 2005.
You're welcome to come back here! Hang-in there, OK?
