I am on mepron, biaxin, bactrim, plaquenil, and artemisinin. Since Friday I have constant nausea that is not going away!

It is the feeling of morning sickness not leaving (I am not pregnant though). I have been on all of the above meds for awhile now, but started the plaquenil 2 weeks ago. Maybe from that?

I was on plaquenil before for 7-8 months, then was off it for 5 months and recently added it back.

I really can't handle this, makes it hard to work, take care of my son, etc., function in general. Any advice?

thanks, Maureen

Wish I had an answer for you.

Hubby has had pretty constant nausea for 7 plus years now. Every time we think we are making headway this symptom comes back with a vengeance.

Herbalist thinks it is a "toxic" nausea triggered by the nervous system. Prescription nausea meds really don't help much at all.

Have treated for gastritis and duodentitis and that helped some with other G.I. symptoms but not much with nausea. Parasite treatment hasn't made much difference either.

Hubby has this symptom regardless of meds and supplements -- still there regardless of what he does.

I do think this symptom is often caused by Babesia so maybe it will improve once the Babesia is really gone.

Hang in there. Ginger tea might help a little.

If you also have a stomach ache something like DGL (deglycerized licorice) might help.

Supposedly zofran is more helpful if it is a "toxic" nausea -- developed for chemo patients. Very expensive if you get the ODT form (orally disintegrating tablets) -- less expensive and also less effective with just regular tablets.

I have that too currently, it usually comes when I start certain new meds or when I take a lot of abx.
Right now it's pretty bad and I am on minocycline, moxifloxacin, malarone, alinia, mebendazole, artimisia, takuna, HH capsules. Yes, hardcore.

Usually the nausea lasts for a few weeks for me, once it starts.

My nausea is due to chronic toxin output by the lyme bacteria and other infections in my body.

To solve my nausea I am going to have to solve the infection...

I have a feeling this might be the same for you...

Are you on a good probiotic?

Maureen,
I was having chronic nausea from gastritis and acid reflux. I had never had these problems pre-lyme/antibiotics, but I had an endoscopy, and that's what it was. Cut out coffee and took some acid blockers for awhile, and now it is definately better. Do you have any of the symptoms of acid reflux?

i have gastroparesis (delayed stomach emptying) and that is what the majority of mine is from.

the more harder to digest foods i eat the more nausea/pain i have.

Brewing a little bit of shredded ginger in tea helps my milder nauseua.

I deal with nausea a lot. Zofran ODT I think is WAY more effective than regular Zofran.

My insurance covers it, so it's not expensive for me, since I only pay the co-pay.

It helps me a little bit when I'm really nauseous, because you just dissolve it on your tongue. You don't have to worry about throwing up the water you drank to take the anti-nausea pill!

I'd give it a shot.

Try papaya tablets or ginger root capsules. If that doesn't work Activated Charcaol will knock out the most severe nausea, but keep 2 hours away (both sides) of medications.

I had a similar experience . I felt like I was pregnant and had morning sickness ( I was also lactating and NOT pregnant ).

The physicaian I saw ( military hospital ) said " I see no reason for this nausea, but maybe you need a PSYCHIATRIST ".

Long story short , I ended up in an endocrinologist's ofc who ran tests and found out a medicine I took caused my prolactin level
to go crazy ( high) . Dr *** Person should have
had his arse fired or sued , but I was too nauseous . Some drugs can cause hormones to really spike ( the med that did this was awful drug called reglan ) .

20 years later I had barfing spells that lasted off and on for TWO years . I think they may have been related to chronic constipation . Once I nailed that problem , the barfing ended.
But it was very frustrating to start throwing up out of the blue and having a hard time stopping .

Oh Goodness, I remember that well. So sorry.

What finally worked for me was to remember to EAT before taking any medication! Sounds so simple but it made a world of difference. [Smile]

Also, a few bites of pickled ginger works pretty well for quick relief.
