I have now had my 2nd outbreak of Shingles (in my mouth) in the past 3 1/2 months. The first outbreak I was given Valtrex for 1 week. This time, I could not tolerate the Valtrex and had to stop. (I think it was too late this time anyway)
I am now into day 11 of these horrible painful blisters in a straight line on the inside of my right cheek. The nerve pain also radiates into my ear, my nose and my eye on that same side.
I can't seem to find a doc that is "familiar" with oral shingles...or whatever it is. No one has actually tested the lesions yet or done blood work. But the docs who have seen it say it LOOKS and ACTS like shingles.
My question is- does anyone know WHAT kind of doctor I should see for this? My ENT and Oral surgeon both say they don't have enough experience with it. One of them suggested an infectious disease doc.
I need to get this under control. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It might be worth running different viral antibody panels to see what you may be dealing with.
