I thank all of you who responded to my posts when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with me last week.
After going to about 5 ducks, spending about 1,000, my llmd, who is 4 hours away, did a simple blood test, and found I have IGM positive for H. pylori, giving me the GERD symptoms. So, I am now going to take 2 different abx, and prevaciad, and nystatin, to target this new infection. But how do you get this bug? from food? could my yeast buildup create this in my stomach? Imbalance of flora cause this?
Anyone?
Jenin

Jenin,

It's very common. You may have had this a long time but it could have been dormant.

Interestingly, h. Pylori is also a spirochetal infection. The good news is that some of the same meds work against lyme.

Candida, imbalance of flora all don't help but if you are also dealing with lyme or other TBD, the immune system probably just can't keep it all under wraps.

Here's just one link about this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._Pylori

Helicobacter pylori

Excerpts:

. . . Over 80% of individuals infected with the bacterium are asymptomatic.

. . . More than 50% of the world's population harbour H. pylori in their upper gastrointestinal tract.

. . . The route of transmission is unknown, although individuals become infected in childhood.

. . . .

- Full article at link above - photos, too.

I had a ulcer many years ago, before they knew it was from a bacteria. My prescription was simply to drink one cup of half-and-half each hour. THAT was a horrible Rx in so many ways.

Good luck. Glad you are on a path to treat this.

20-30% of all Americans have this infection. You generally get it as a child and don't have symptoms until something happens to change the conditions in your intestines. You get it if food is contaminated by feces (a food preparer does not properly wash hands, or child contaminates own food, etc.), from contaminated water, etc. So, where sanitary conditions are not good, there is an even higher incidence of helicobacter (h. pylori).

It is the major cause of stomach ulcers and can turn into cancer after enough years.

My husband had it for years undiagnosed. The treatment works and is wonderful. You will be fine shortly. However, sometimes people suffer strange or severe side effects from the 2 different antibiotics you have to take. So, read package insert so you will know if this is happening to you. Otherwise, could cause alarm.

I've been going through testing for it, although so far my tests have been negative. I've been told by several doctors that it is very common in the environment, therefore easy to pick up.

Also, some doctors think it can be transmitted among family members/spouses, others don't think so - if you are living with others, ask your doctor if they should be tested.

Cats are common carriers of H-pylori.

Rife machines work well for this infection, if you have one available. Run 676 Hz for ten minutes a day for one week.

I had H Pylori and had to go thru 3 seperate treatments of ( 7 day, 10 day and finally/ 14 day)

It took several months and finally tested negative.I was told the only way that you know it is gone is by getting a normal urea breath test. Blood work will not show that it is gone
