So I have been doing the 500 mg of zithro once a day for 2 weeks now. I switched from doxy. So, I dont know if this is because the abx may not be fully working yet but let me tell you.
My symtpoms are worse then they have been. My stiff neck pain, chest pain, heart paps, numbness in limbs, shakes, headacjes, and stabbing pain won both sides of neck are all back with a vengence. I didnt go through this much pain onthe doxy. My symptoms werent as bad.
I just sent my doc an email asking if he thought combining the two would be a good mix or just increasing zithro to 1000 mg daily.
Any hints, tips, suggestions, comment, or concerns would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for listening to me wine.....
Hope you all are doing well!!

My LLMD really likes to combine zith with say amox or doxy.
It has been a great combo for me.
Zith is great for brain penetration.

Jaimie,
I was on zith for 4 months. It worked really good. I had most of your symptoms, especially the fierce neck pain for months and months. I remember complaining to my LLMD that I thought I had meningitis it hurt so bad.
Finally, I decided to listen to my LLMD and started getting a massage therapist who actually got rid of the pain. (could have been toxins lodged in the muscles)
I used to walk around the house with one of those bean neck bags you nuke to warm up, which did help a little.
If he ups your dosage, you could become quite sicker. My LLMD took the treatment slow and steady.
Anyway, stick with it. I am actually in remission since January, so there is light a the end of the tunnel!

Thank you everyone for replying. I am glad to hear that this may be the Zith actually working. I had added 400 mg of doxy to the mix as well. I need some major brain penetration to kill those boogers.
GEMO- CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so happy to hear that for you!! How long were you on treatment, may I ask?

interesting to hear about the neck pain with zithro - my son is on it now (along with ceftin) for about 2 weeks and he is complaining that his neck really hurts. I've actually just noticed what looks like an enlarged node behind one of his ears (protruding). We're going to take him to pedi tomorrow b/c I'm concered about it - but does it sound like it could be because of the zith and that it's actually working? Oh, this is so confusing...

Yes. I am on zith and I had a swollen peri-auricular gland. After 4 or 5 days, it went away.
Stiff neck comes and goes. I am only taking 250 mg zith every other day. I am also taking Mepron 1/2 tsp bid.
My doctor believes in starting low and slowly working up the dose.
Too much herx can cause permanent damage.
