It tasted nasty at first, but it felt good going down.
Then later on the day, my body actually craved another glass with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp ascorbic acid.
I even woke up at night with insomnia craving salt/c!
I haven't noticed much else, but I really think my body needs this.

I hope you are using sea salt? A lot of people are salt deficient and also need the valuable minerals in sea salt.
If you are planning on doing this protocol, ramp up slowly acoording to how you are herxing. This is a powerful protocol and you should have some good results. let us know,
Gael

If you're craving it, you most likely need it. I find I crave the things I need. I used to crave chocolate all the time .... I ate good quality, dark chocolate. Now that I've gotten my minerals in balance, I have two half-eaten chocolate bars in my pantry that I'm not the least bit interested in. Not even when I'm starving.

If you do the salt protocol, be sure to ask Gael for the specific instructions and keep in contact with her as she is the resident expert on that and she is most supportive.

As unsure445 mentions, adrenal support may be needed. That is addressed in this book:
This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, holds great information about treatments options and support measures:

I agree, sixgoofykids. I remember the first time I tried bentonite clay, it felt like something my body really needed. I didn't crave it, but when I took it it tasted good and felt nourishing.
Other than B vitamins and of course vitamin C, I am not taking anything for adrenal support....I don't think anyway.
I'm not taking electrolytes either, but I juiced today!
And I am drinking plenty of water.
Thanks for the link, Keebler.

I have always loved the taste of salt water....
...and I also crave limes or other "C" things sometimes.
Probably has to do with my adrenals or the microbes. I do tend to crave the things I need.

I like to add sea salt to my nutritional yeast drink. I really crave that flaky yellow stuff . . . such good B-vitamins and some probiotics, too.
(And, no, nutritional yeast will not promote candida, it actually helps prevent it).

I have just started the salt/c protocol and I find myslef craving my doses too.
I am only on day 5, but have had some reactions from my body so far. I've got up to 85% on abx and am continuing to take them for a little while then drop them alltogether once I get up a bit in my salt/c dose.
I really feel like this protocol is going to work for me. I was skeptical at first, but at day 3 I had a neurological herx, something I haven't had for ages on antibiotics so I think its getting much deeper.
My herx has been manageable though and only lasted for about 36 hours then cleared. I've been doing 3 1g doses/day and am coping fine with this. I plan to continue this for a couple of weeks and then if still going OK will add in a 4th dose.
I'm ramping up slow, monitoring my BP, etc but I am really excited about this.
No worms as yet!!!!!!

I read about this salt/C treatment at lymephotos.com. Is this what yall are referring to?
Gael, you were mentioned as an expert. Did it work for you?
Weird thing is I am only on 200mg of Doxy which everyone seems to think is low but since taking it almost all of my symptoms have disappeared. No herxes.
14 days of treatment so far. Is that normal to not have herx and feel better so soon?

TXlymie - I think that can happen in some cases. Herxing is not required to get better! Just curious, what were your symptoms and how long were you infected? Were you very ill before you started treatment?

Hi TxLymie,
I have been on the salt/c protocol for 3yrs and I found it on lymephotos which was posted here on Lymenet. The only "expertise" I have is from my own experience.
Everyone is different. Interesting about the doxy helping you although sometimes it takes awhile for it to kick in and cause a herx. Sometimes it takes a higher dose.

I have gone to my GP for 10 years with complaints. Here's what they said/found the first year 1999 3-4 Bladder infections but abx didn't help; major chills laid on couch off and on for months; finally diagnosed me with endometriosis on bladder; had surgery and it did get better
--Vision problem/numbness/headache (said was migraines...had 3 times)
--Fatigue, hair loss, depression black outs on standing up, ear pain and ears itching: No explanation
1998-2009 Went to doc faithfully 1-2 times a year with: fatigue, hair loss, dizziness, black outs, bloating, flu like symptoms in morning (couldn't wake up either) depression and forgetfulness
Luckily I have not had too much of the joint/muscle pains...some but not much.
I went to OB/Gyns, Endocrinologists, GI doc, Cardiologist etc.
This year when my chest started aching and cardiologist found nothing I went to Int Med doc and she found the Lyme.
Whether it is 2, 5 or 10 yrs who knows. But I know I didn't catch it early. Never remember a tick bite
I think I am lucky with a strong immune system and no horrible dibilitating symptoms....well unless you include the extreme fatigue
